BEEN there done that no probs

go to ref put the cats back in and all you need to say is that the cop gave you that ticket and sent you to ref all you did was cat back. ref will see that adn wave the fee but keep the aftermarket cat back set up.

I had to pay 35 bucks this was 2 years ago and friends it happened the same. make sure you put stock cat back in though

edgar,
hey gimme a break

But yeah Tonys right, I dont know if anyone asked this yet but did the cop take pics? if not then you you can put your stuff back to stock and it will just be your word against his and if the ref sees cats then thats all there is to it. There was a thread a while back about this how the cop couldnt get his camera to work but gave to guy a ref ticket anyways and told him he better not try to put it back to stock(lol, as if ) so he put it back to stock and got it signed of, haha

Okay... time to shed a little light.

About ten months abo I got pulled over by CHP for doing absolutly nothing wrong. He pulled up next to me, rolled down his window to listen, and pulled me over cause I had a polished tip. I have an APS 2.5"
exaust with the 4" tip. It's catless, it's not loud at cruising speeds and it was so dirty it didn't even look polished. White wagon with stockers and the only exterior mod was an STI hoodscoop.

I insisted it was only a muffler and that all the cats were still in place. He looked under the hood and saw my two day old APS top mount with red hoses and wrote me up for "modified emissions".

I made the mistake of telling him (very gracefully) that I come from a family of police officers. Apparently CHP had a problem with the PD at the time and he then proceeded to write me up for everything he could.

He also felt the need to put a sticker on the ticket that said "no officer sign off, state ref only".

Two days elbow deep under the hood put her back to stock accept for the axle back. I told the ref I had no idea why the guy gave me a ticket for a muffler... $68 for the ref... $10 for no front plate.

Done.

any questions,

Ash BTW: Of coarse I put it all right back on....

There's a single reason for these laws... It all comes down to one thing and it has nothing to do with pollution.

The current law says that you can't even put a K&N in your car. The best way to fight illegal street racing is to make it so much of a headache to make you car faster that it's just not worth it.

Street racing is why we're harassed. Everyones fun spoiled by a few bad apples. I know there's street racers in these forums... You are not my friend.

Which is it? Am I supposed to STFU, or speak out? I did share my opinion, and choose not to live in a cave because your (not yours specifically, but you get what i mean) irresponsibility affects me. Talk all the smack you want, make all the unsafe mods to your car, as long as they don't affect me. Once they do, I DO get to speak my mind.

Your points about the law and justice are all well and good, but offtopic. I'm not suggesting its wrong because its illegal. I'm suggesting it wrong because its incredibly irresponsible. Humans are selfish, sure. But we don't just do whatever the hell we want, now do we. We have a sense of social responsibility. Do you throw your trash out on the freeway? Do you take a leak in the middle of a public restroom floor? Why not? Not just because its illegal or you'll get caught. Its because its wrong. Thats social responsibility

now, anybody wants to share their opinion of my opinions and none-sense I just spewed, go ahead.
I didn't murder you. I said that choosing to run catless is incredibly irresponsible. If you (again, not you in particular, but the more general you) can't take it, don't post publically that you are doing things like that. I fail to see how that equates to murder?

I said I was done, but you've brought me back into this by suggesting that I shouldn't speak my mind. And then suggesting I should.

Ash - I'm sorry - the requirement for cats has nothing to do with street racing. Perhaps the BS about K&N filters (which is BS) not being allowed is related to street racing, I dunno. But cat requirements are about pollutants.

Plain and simple....and still waiting for a response: Why do you need to run catless, beyond base selfishness?
