How many miles do you have on your car?

ohh ok, so you don't meet the following requirments?

(3) if the vehicle is more than 5 years old or has more than 50,000 miles*
(8 years/80,000 miles for 1995 and newer vehicles) and a legitimate need for
replacement has been established and appropriately documented (e.g., a
plugged converter or unrepairable exhaust leaks).

(1) the existing converter is present and functioning properly

(2) the replacement is under recall or warranty

Nope. So?

You're suggesting that my installation of an aftermarket cat would be illegal. I know that. My argument was never about the legality question. Its was about the morality of it. The law doesn't agree with me, but I believe that replacing my stock cats with hiflow cats isn't wrong, as it should remain close to the same 'cleanliness'. I am well aware it would still be technically illegal.

Read my earlier posts again - If you run catless, its an indication you don't give a rats *** about those around you. Running with a couple highflow cats to achieve the same level of emissions but with greater flow is indicative that you respect those around you and intend to avoid more damage than normal/required. The letter of the law doesn't agree though, and if I get pulled over and my car inspected (no reason to think I should, as I don't drive like a nut and won't have a wake-up-the-neighbours exhaust note), I won't ***** about getting caught. I'll pay my fine and get ref'd.

I don't think you can run the same emission levels as a catted car then a catted Highflow... I think it's different. So in a way... you're just sorta respecting the people around you, but not all the way. and in a way.. sounds like you're mocking whtwrxwgn for b1tching about getting caught when all he reallly wanted out of this post was advice, and a big hug.

-Hug for whtwrxwgn

Actually, you can. Aftermarket cats are required to have the same efficiency as OEM cats. Read the EPA's docs again. If I put 2 or 3 aftermarket cats on the car, I should be able to meet the same efficinecy it started with (if not beat it).

As for mocking whtwrxwagon...not at all. I just think he ought to put some damn cats on the car. He doesnt' deserve a hug for running catless. Once he realizes that he ought to be running a cat or two, and does it, then I'll give him a hug .

Sure you can do something. You can join the socially responsible and buy a cat or two.
