list of things to buy:
1) heat shield
2) the screen Suzwrx is talkin about. (Where can we get those?)

Or, how about not destroying the environment and running a cat or two?

Naw, I'm talking about all the people who run catless. You deserve whatever you get for running catless, and it ought to have your car pulled off the road until you make it legal.

WRX owners running catless is pure selfishness, and nothing more. I can see SOME instances of the poor with old junky cars not being able to afford a new cat, but I don't think we have that case here.

Really, just run a cat or two...it won't kill your horsepower.

I can't believe you bought a WRX and not mod it. Such a shame.

I have modded my WRX. I've got EM & gauages so far, and plan to do suspension as well to make myself more competitive in STX (besides increased seat time). However, modding does not require that you be completely devoid of social repsonsibility. My mods do not significantly change the emissions output of my car, but they do make it more fun while not endangering the health of those around me more than necessary/normal.

Give me a good reason you CANT run a cat (even an aftermarket highflow one)? If you've got the money to install a thousand dollar TBE, you've got the extra $100 to get it with a catted DP).

Gauges and suspension are the gateway mods to more power...

Indeed - and I intend to go for more power than I have (currently at 182awhp/181tq). When I do however, I intend to run a TBE with a catted DP and a cat somewhere else as well (either in the UP if I can find a decent catted UP or after the DP).
