so does this mean you don't speed either? shouldn't you be driving a prius then?

I was just stating what we have found, and posted the correct data, no need to get your tree hugger panties in a bunch..

He took pics to prove he didn't site you for no reason, and to back up the claim, most likely when you go in to the state ref the ref will have copies of those pictures to go off of, and they know all about cars, it is their job. Good luck

P.S. here is a debate I started, it kind of coencided with what people are talking about here . . https://www.i-club.com/forums/showth...ht=cats+debate

I don't speed on public roads - I keep my fast agressive driving on the track where it belongs. $30 for the safety of a track with nothing to hit and no chance of cops is a small price to pay for me. Why should I be driving a Prius if I choose not to break the law?

I thankyou for posting better data than I had. I'm not unhappy about your posting the data.

What gets my 'tree hugger panties in a bunch' is people who think its OK to run catless and then complain about it!

I would prefer that we don't have junky cars with bad cats on the road, and if a measure came before the people restricting that even further, then I vote in favor of it. Until then, however, that doesn't absolve you of YOUR responsibilty to do YOUR part, does it?

Again, I ask, why CANT you run a highflow cat? According to RandomTech (who make a number of highflow cats, they dont' reduce power at all, and in some limited cases (albeit cases that don't apply to a small turbo engine) they saw an increase in power.

It comes down to selfishness. You don't care about the wellbeing of others and the rest of the world around you, so you choose to run illegally and contaminate the environment rather than take a 5HP reduction. How about this? Why not lose 10lbs and take the 5HP cut.....just as much accelaration, and better for you as well!

As for highflows not working very well? Just plain false. Since all catalytic converters must meet standards established by the Environmental Protection Agency, (EPA) their efficiency in controlling pollutants is a given - provided a particular converter is installed on the type of vehicle for which it was designed.

As for legality in CA. They are legal. However, it is ILLEGAL to replace a functional cat with another one. So, unless yours is broken, it is technically illegal to replace it even witha highflow version. But my argument here isn't about legality, its about morality.

Running catless means you don't care about the wellbeing of others and the rest of the world around you, so you choose to run illegally and contaminate the environment rather than take a 5HP reduction.
Where did you get that it's legal to have that? it still pollutes the air more so than having a catted

Huh? I very clearly stated that removing a functioning cat is ILLEGAL.

Morally, however, running catless is FAR worse than running aftermarket hiflow cats when compared to the stock exhaust. Aftermarket cats are REQUIRED to perform to a certain degree, so they are far better than catless.

I believe he was talking about a high flow catyletic convertor. Catless is completely and outstandingly illegal.

I don't think anyone think it's OK to run catless.. people mod their cars and knows the consequences. The Post that started this thread was asking how much the fine would be, and not blaming the police for their findings.

I just think you need to lighten up.. or go post your feelings on the SRT-4 forums.. since they're catless from the factory...

As is replacing your functioning factory cat unless you have a massive unfixeable exhaust leak.

haha I never mentioned anything about removing a cat.. You're saying that it's legal to have a highflow cat, but it's Illegal to remove a cat. ok,.. that's understandable. but what I'm trying to ask you is, how did you find out that the highflow cat is legal. I mean let's say that there WAS indeed something wrong with a stock cat and you had to replace it (making it legal) but you replace it with a highflow cat.. making it Illegal because it's not legal to have that on cars either. how is a highflow cat legal to install?

Well I think some people just dont care enough, check out the link I left a few posts above and it shows how many people think catyletic convertors in general are stupid.

That's because I think they're comparing big rigs and other things to our small compact cars. They think that it doesn't make a difference because there are many gross polluters out there... that and they're ignorant.... or they're just trying to make fun. I for one do care about the environment!

We forget that all the older cars who are exempt from the smog laws...

don't you think those people take advantage of being exempt and mounting huge blowers on those motors?

There are more of those running around than catless subarus...

I think I spent less time on the road driving to work than those guys driving to shows every weekend...
