I know right, if there's a lesson to be learned from the tragedies on the Gulf Coast its how to loot & pillage correctly. I'm so smart, I stashed all our crap up on the roof in a sailboat.

well the only one i am worried about is a possible snow storm from hell.

so i have enough food/water at my house for around 60 days for 4 people. enough blankets and warm things to definitely keep me hot at all times. we have a safe room in our house(2 feet of concrete walls all around) i have my wrx for transportation(i went though 3 feet of powder in my wrx with high performance street tires, i think 2 feet as mentioned above will be fine with AS tires lol). lights up the ying yang in my house.board games for those boring hours.. 3 different generators at my house(step dad was a contractor) along with my Snap-on full set of tools so i can fix/power what i want. xbox 360 with games, DVD's and music also. i would definitely grab a dirtbike from my friend around the corner(he rides motox he has his practice bike and his race bike, he will let me borrow either lol) so that if i need to make a short run i dont have to worry about roads. shotgun with lots of shells.

i believe i am set.

My emergency backup is money. The real disaster that's happening now is an economic one. Hoarding guns and water isn't going to do anything. Look at history, the people who always manage to survive disaster are the rich because they can afford to go elsewhere.

Look at New Orleans after Katrina, folk who had money left. Things were getting ugly and a gun don't make u bullet proof.

I carry a small kit in the car big enough for a few days if I get stuck in the snow and there's always a weeks worth of regular old food in the fridge, but if a big disaster strikes. I think the smart thing to do is to get away if possible. Some folks rather shut themselves in and live like some survivalist hermit. I'd rather hop on a plane or in my car and keep living my life normally somewhere else.

yeah, but Katrina was a very small portion of the USA that was knocked out...with all due respect to the victims, help was only miles away. (apparently not dubbya)

But in a more global disaster, such as airborne whatever, or something that knocks out a major part of the industry then supply goes down.

Though I cant in my mind think of what that might be aside from atom bombs hitting every major city at the same time...then Canada will help.
