Dirtbikes...the ONLY kind of transport that can go over any obstacle better than any other ground vehicle made...unless there's a deep river lol.
good luck with the bikes when you hit a freeway that has collapsed and is large chunks of cement/rocks.

Thats what my rock crawler is for

Oh yeahh... I can just picture it now.

I am really looking forward to 2012.

BruceLee, it is our soul responsibility to round up as many croatian girls as we can on a heavily modified bus and continue our race.

BTW, this post makes the whole thread!! though I would have to add a few cases of these

have you not seen trials riders on the trail? their dream is to ride a broken up freeway... with all due respect we literally ride circles around rock crawlers.

see 1:30 and 1:48, something only, maybe, a pro crawler could possibly make it up
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qe16MN79UgU

Even normal sized dirtbikes are taking it to trials levels
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_wyAUcyPqKE

Not to mention you cover 10x as much ground in the same time. and singletrack is everywhere, doubletrack isn't. And you most likely wont break any parts as much as a 4x would.

thats badass, BUT

there are still few big flaws.

1. Limited on supply space and what you can carry
2. Cant plow through a wall of zombies
3. Cant cover your self from spitting zombies
4. Cant cover your self if zombies learn to shoot guns
5. Deep water
6. Storms
7. Fatique from fighting the road conditions constantly
8. No safe place to sleep
9. Look back at #1 (cant carry extra gas) if you plan on carrying other supplies
10. Not everybody can ride a bike that well (most of us can drive a car)
11. You're not as mobile with all the weight you will have to carry to survive

List goes on!!

yeah they suck because the stock gas tank is 1 gallon lol. But i dont think anything could possibly happen that a normal sized dirtbike couldn't handle...or 4x4 for that matter lol.

unless I Am Legend **** is going on, i'll ride my bike and find shelter, there's always shelter...unless there's an airborne disaster where you need a bomb shelter.

well all you ****ers head to the hills in your bikes and crawlers and live out your agrarian existence, I plan to stake my claim here in the ruins of society, fighting building to crumbling building. Forming my legion and staking our territory among the ruins of civilization and fighting over the dwindling resources left behind!
Oh and killing alot of zombies, for sure.

Well said, pretty much covered everything with your post... There's also the problem of carrying firearms, like "assault weapons". It'd be really difficult to carry a fully loaded M4 with a bunch of ammo on a motorcycle.

Car/truck would def be the way to roll during the apocalypse. I'd be rocking that Lamborghini SUV that came out in the late 80s. That thing was straight out of mad max in terms of performance!

Specs:

V12
500HP
500lb/Ft
4WD
Carbon Fiber tires, run flats
0-60 in 8 seconds (Is fast for a 6,000lb vehicle, compare that to an H1 hummer, this thing is FAST).

This came out in 1986, those specs are impressive for today let alone back in 1986!!! This thing is suppose to put a Hummer H1 to shame in every way possible, but it was expensive as hell which is why no one has one.

I'd love to have one in flat olive drab with a .308 machine gun mounted to the back. Now THAT would be fun!

Oh man, dont even get me started on the LM002. Hunter S Thompson (fear and loathing in las vegas) used to have one and used to write about terrorizing overenthusiastic Porsche drivers on the San Francisco highway system with its speed, handling and size.

Ha, I knew you'd be a fan. We have some similar taste in cars, J.

I've always wanted an LM002... They def look dated and no one knows what the hell they are, but that adds to the bad assness of the thing! I wonder how much extra power you could squeeze out of that V12?

I can't say I have much of a plan for Zombies or Apocalypse, but for the run of the mill earthquake, house burning down kind of disasters. We have a 5th wheel RV that is self contained, has 50 gallons of fresh water, blankets, basic first aid, tools. Also keep it stocked pretty well of dry durable goods and a case of drinking water. Everything from peanut butter and spaghetti-o's to a few days worth of MRE's.

But yeah, i'd be looking for a source of fresh foods within a few days. Hopefully then I could drag it somewhere good.
