Which Dealership should I go to in the Bay?

Hi All,

My 4th gear synchro is going grinding/going out and I took my car to Oakland Subaru to have it fixed under warranty. I have a 2005 STI with only 11K on the clock. The only mod I have is H&R springs and replaced my Injen intake with the stock one. After being in the shop for 2 hours, they call me and tell me that Subaru will not cover the synchro because the mods on my car suggest abuse and possibly racing. WTF? They said they can tell by the rubber flange that the intake has been modified, and that the suspension is lowered which also suggests hard driving? WTF?

Anyways, I want to take it to a different dealership but not sure where to go in the Bay. Has anyone else with similar problems get their cars fixed under warranty at other dealerships here in the Bay? Your help is greatly appreciated!

Santa Cruz Subaru if you are willing to make the trip down there, they are usually pretty cool about things like that...

I would suggest to try Ron Price Subaru also. My steering rack went out on me and they fixed it under warranty while having tbe. They even mentioned the car being catless, but they just played it cool.

So hopefully you'll have the same response.

I've had good experiences at Carlsen in RWC. They just replaced my timing belt tensioner under warranty (it was making noise), and my car isn't stock either... they didn't give me any of that "you must've been driving hard" BS.

Thanks Guys! I called Calvin and he seems really cool. He's been transferred to Subaru San Francisco. It sounds like hes going to try everything he can to get it covered under warranty. I just need to take a morning off from work to drop it off. I will also try the other dealerships mentioned. Thanks all!

If anyone else has had any experience similar to this, please post. Thanks!

Wow so if you have lowering springs on the car it means you are racing/driving it hard sounds like they have came up with something new to reject warranty claims
