Its a trade off. You add a few pieces to the car. To make up for the lighter body.

Those brakes, oil coolers, cage. Start to add up. 2800lbs plus 500+hp is a nice little street car...
Most that carbon body stuff is all dry carbon. Which is like 1/2 to 1/3 the weight of normal everyday ricer carbon. Its hard to dump 400 lbs off these cars and still be adding parts..

That's the thing, just cause it carbon, doesn't mean ****... I bet most of it is siebon peices.

The hood, fenders, bumper skins and trunk are all probably 1-2 lbs heavier than stock. The only real weight reduction I see could be from the door skins if the metal was truly removed. and the roof, IF, he did that too.

But honestly, it's not that hard to make an STi 2800 lbs without all that carbon fiber paneling.

Is there a list of parts?

I don't know of many manufactures that make dry carbon pieces...

I dont think matter a fact I'm pretty sure... Nothing on that car is seibon.
If you think its easy dropping a STi to 2800 and adding all the non body parts I'm sure GST, LIC and everyone an tell you. It very hard to be pulling that much weight off.

Car Info: MY04 STi some call it a race car
our sti is 2850 gutted w/ a very very heavy cage (it has nascar bars, etc...) But its gutted and looks as such

the RS is 2800 with full front interior, and looks like a street car

both our cars easily have hundreds more that I can visually see to remove for the STi its in the works, the RS is comfy and was made to be that way

It's not that hard. You name a few shops, how many of their cars are all carbon?

He's done all this for looks, not for performance.

exactly!

Without that cage, it would be EVEN LIGHTER.

So that dude in china has one awesome subie, but please don't tout this car for it's weight savings...

the cage for the sti weighs like 250lbs if i recall correctly (I MAY BE WRONG) but that is the number that is in my head.

honestly for a race car/ track car / or one driven on the track hard...who care's how much the cage weighs...its there to save your life. In competition, sure you want as light as possible but a lot of folks forget about power to weight ratio! its not ALL about power. Setup is everything, even down to the weight of your tires
