Even at 45-50 in the rain on the re070s you can break all 4 loose on a moderate curve

Heavy rain and water on the road, along with dirt runoff, road oils, etc, definitely count as a reason.
Noone's claiming 070's are the ultimate all-season tire; you drive within the limits of your setup. If you exceed the limits of your tires in conditions they weren't necessarily designed for, it's not a fault of the tires, it's the fault of the driver.......

yeah we were more concerned for our friends health then to take pictures of the wreck .. plus the chp told us to leave
i am not saying its not possible, i am saying, smart driving wont cause you to crash. and yes there are exceptions to every rule, but in general, smart driving = no crash
True, but one can easily mistake idiotic driving for simple inexpeirence. Like someone said, the car had 1200miles on it. If it was the owners first 300hp awd car, 1200miles isnt a whole lot. Being unaware of the cars limits and willfulling pushing past them are two different things

Finding the cars limits....that's what the track is for.
Finding the cars limits in the rain, on summer tires, along a 2-lane public highway while trying to keep up with a bunch of heavily suspension modified cars with experienced drivers isn't a good idea....unless they added run-off areas to route 9 since I last drove it?

Sorry to hear about the wreck first off. But I also could not agree more, RE070 more then hold their own in the rain! I have only EVER owned Subarus so I have become at one with my 04 STI, working up to it from a 2000 BRP 2.5RS to a WRX wagon to my 04 STI. I have personally taken my STI with no mods and RE070's far past some of my friends limits with heavily modded suspension bits and much better Tires in the Rain at speeds I was stupid enough to feel comfortable with. RE070 are truly amazing in anything but Snow or Sleet. Guys Please stop blaming an incredible tire. Just Learn from your some one's mistake. Best of wishes to the Driver and passanger. I hope you both recover quickly.
