I think the L's will be on both sides of the spectrum. The GST L being one of the fastest cars there... and my L being the slowest one there.
I'll be in Davis tomorrow night. If you guys need me to bring up anything, let me know.

i'm not on any team where i will be put in the situation "race rain or shine"
and i dont have any need to go around a freeway offramp 90mph in the rain. I just dont see where it fits in.

When driving on dry track 90% of people tracking their cars although don't realize it are probably driving well below the limits of the car and it's adhesive capabilities so when they encounter a situation there is typically plenty of room left for error, add rain to table and that safety margin narrows thus the need of better car control skills and where those skills are learned.
Regarding peoples parents and money financing racing I have no answer as the comment itself is beyond retarded, plenty of people that are not inherently wealthy race, granted money helps but only takes people so far.
As with everything people are free to do as they please, you choose to not want to track in the rain and that's perfectly fine as is it fine for all of those wanting to track regardless of conditions. It's not like this is a racing event this is a fun driving event where people are going to have fun on track and to better either their track driving skills or general driving skills and overall car control.

Sorry but I have met plenty of people racing that are not from wealthy backgrounds and have worked their way up the racing ladder from obtaining sponsors based on their natural talent to working apprenticeships just to get ahead and get a seat.

So do you never drive in the rain? I have seen drivers have an incident for the first time on track and the common outcome is they are shook up and basically come to the realization that the car did something they were unable to react to and control. HPDE days and track days are not to go fast but to learn how to better drive your car (car control) which in turns makes you a better and safer drive on the street. There may come a day when you are driving in the rain and some incident occurs where by having drove in a safe controlled environment in the rain prepared you to react and control the situation safely. Even if you never plan to race in the rain the fact is that you drive in the rain at some point and being a knowledgeable driver about your car and car control can save your vehicle and you. No HPDE driver should be driving 100% in the dry, more like 75% or less (whatever you are comfortable with), so in the rain you drive intelligently and bring it down to 50-60% or even less. Driving in the rain on track is what you make of it, if you are safe and respect the track then there should be no reason for an incident but plenty of potential for experience. Point is that every drive has the need to know car control in the rain even yourself.

lol this happens every time in these threads. i'm so bitter on this subject. maybe its because my friend races a $100,000 BMW and i'm jealous.
yes you are both right
You still have to admit its going to suck for the first timers. I want mine to be dry. Then once i have 5 or so under my belt i wouldn't be so pissed if it rained.
yeah i'm sure lots of racers can come up the ranks with little money, Just never seems that way when i get to the track to watch track days, with their fully stocked trailers etc.
Have fun everyone

ill be driving up in the morning, low on cash so I'm not even staying the night with the "rich racers". Leaving my big trailor at home too (err, i mean, non-existant one). One good thing about the rain, arrive and drive! No need to be switching tires in 30 degree weather

I can totally understand why you are bitter on the subject of funds. There are some that have achieved the level of the fully stocked trailers etc that you speak of that have earned which is great but there is also some who have the talent but have not achieved that level which sucks so you can only hope they get their just dues. Why really I understand is because there are some who do not have the talent but have the funds so they get that achievement without earning it. Hope that you get your chance on track soon and wish you the best. If you ever see me at the track come by and say hey. For once I will not be joining the crew at the track tomorrow so everyone be safe and have fun!

You would be surprised what money can get you in racing. Sure it can get you only so far, but that 'only so far' is Formula 1, and definitely GP2. I can't remember who it was, but during one of the telecast they mentioned how the driver really has no business being at this level but has a huge company basically paying for the team and keeping it running as long as he is the driver. I believe it was either Kaz Nakajima or Sakon Yamamoto. In all honesty, you really can buy yourself a championship. It's unfortunate, but true.
Kyle, I think we spoke about this before but your friend is Matt Bell isn't it? Purchased a Turner World Challenge car? We went to the drivers school together.
