So many dirt roads up there that I think you could probably take a week off, and head up into the hills every day and still drive on new roads each time. Ironically, the road I lived near as a kid was called Skyline. Near The Dalles, Oregon. Stay in Hood River, hit up Full Sail Brewing Co and some nice river spots. Hmm. Sounds like a Summer Suby road trip, and I even have a car with a towing setup.

Here is a video of me driving my Justy @ Prairie City (FRX):
Portland is rad. I was born there before it was cool. :P I lived in Oregon until age 12 and came back for boarding school and summer work until around age 18 (lived in Hawaii). So, bashing down dirt roads in Subarus was a huge part of my life as a child. My father worked on them, and we always had between 5 and 15 of them in various stages of disrepair/modification. I remember a lot of ridiculous trips in tiny cars - we had a '78 4WD wagon that we used to basically try to take "everywhere" - it had a winch on the front and back, full under-plating. If you go up the Columbia Gorge (amazing place) there are many different little towns, and nearly all of them have pretty awesome roads behind them. I know mostly roads around The Dalles/Mt. Hood and out at the coast where I worked in the summers - Nehalem, Manzanita and such. We used to go mob-mudding in another '78 Suby wagon, and a '73 FJ40. Amazing times.
Last time I was up there, just driving through, there was about 6 times where I apologized to my wife, and pulled off the highway to get the car a little dirty...

Thanks folks! I will probably just take a day off and cruise my little Suby-Tot up to the North Bay.

Hey everyone... please come out for Rallyx. Brent works hard at making these events. Mostly at Prairie City, but he's always looking for different venues.
last year he did it at Stockton Fairground for a Tarmacross (both dirt and pavement in one course). It was awesome.

With two teeny kids and a job that likes to bulldoze through my plans every single time at the last minute, I cannot really do something like RallyX or track-days anymore (the last one I paid for but couldn't show up).
But if I find a nice dirt road off the highways I mentioned, I am gonna go drive on it!!!
