Both are douche bags, end of story. No responsible biker would defend the type of riding you described.

It's painfully obvious that a majority of the people posting in this thread have either no riding experience or no friends that ride. That means most of you don't know what you're talking about--remember that when you get tempted to flap your gums.

It's called "lane sharing" and it's perfectly legal. It comes from the fact that there are still many motorcycles that are only air-cooled and if they sat in rush hour traffic would overheat.

Really? Every bike accident? So you stopped and asked what happened? You were privy to the details and cause of every single motorcycle accident you've seen along your morning commute?

Sorry, but I find your claim to be highly dubious, and your disclaimer that you're "Not saying all riders are stupid" strikes me as disingenuous.

fatal bike accidents are usually the result of another automobile.

non-fatal accidents have an almost 50-50 split now thanks to stuntaz but it used to be predominantly the fault of autos as well

Its hard to judge the WRX....personally if there was a long open straight ahead where he was, i wouldve been in the opposite lane 100% to give room for people on the side of the road, but if it was a blind corner ahead, i probably wouldve been 100% in my lane.

Just in case you ever do this or act like it or swerve at me, be prepared to get a size 12 alpinestar metal tipped dent somewhere along the side of your car. A lot of bikers are aggressive towards cars, but for a good reason, not because "wah im in a cage and am stuck in traffic, why do bikers get to go thru?" thats NOT a good reason to be aggressive

Nothing personal, just a warning to you, bikers respect life, and you never know who's under the helmet when youre in your car hating against them. Im sure everyone has a friend or relative that rides a bike, and you sure as hell wouldnt put their life in danger, so why would you treat any other rider differently?

why would there be a law against HELPING traffic!? you realize if everyone road motorcycles, there would be no traffic.

I still dont know why CA hasn't made a moto only lane, all i takes is paint! a 2 ft. wide lane would be awesome to have on the fast lane shoulder.

Sorry to get all aggro, but most of the posts in this thread are so ridiculously stereotyped. I know for a fact that most of the people on this forum get annoyed with being stereotyped because of the car they drive, yet here a lot of you are, doing the same thing towards bikers.

Lawl...first post was a joke..sarcasm on the internet fails yet again.

The law I assumed was to protect bikers from retarded drivers that don't use their turn signals or check their blind spots (which last time I checked was well over the 50% marker).

The only bikers that lane share that **** me off are the ones that cut me off when I'm trying to change lanes and rev up to get in front of me before I change lanes - which seems to only happen in the mornings on the already deadly 280N/85N interchange at foothill.

I see you're passionate about riding bikes and that's cool, but no reason to take my personal observations well, personally.

But yes, every single bike crash that I have seen from start to finish was the result of rider error; entry speed too high, visual horizon too short, etc.

I am not counting the number of crash scenes where I happened upon a downed rider.

to the people that wish harm to bikers:
i hope your families die tragically in front of your eyes and you can't do anything but watch.

and a side note for the people saying all accidents are caused by the rider... look up what kills most of us. CARS

yeah they arent bikers, they are humans with beating hearts. Seems like many just think they are robots on two wheels sometimes. Just because their face is hidden behind a helmet i guess it makes it ok to hate on them
