Yeah you can get the 620/750 monster for 2-3k.. Then pick up a 900cc desmodue for 7-600 and swap it in.
If you guys want to get project bikes going let me know. I'll help you get it going.

I like to roll slow now days.... :-) Something about turning 36 this year.. That and parking it at school? It would be gone quick.. I did take the new bike to italian class the other night. I was scared parking it out front, But it was part of my report I had to do.

Can't you take it right to the classroom? There's a way to get to the rooms from the side, you don't have to come down the stairs. What term italian are you in? 2nd term for me.

thanks I<3subie, when im on the road im always extra courteous to riders, and your right sometimes i dont SEE them FLYing up on me and it pisses me off to know that i could have hit them or cut them off.

sometimes i ask myself "why the F... do i even give these guys the time of day" but then i remember there are riders like I<3subie and they all arnt a bunch of elites ****** that thing everything should be handed to them and everyone should be aware of them even when THEY are the ones driving like REtards!

That is just sick and sad. You should worry about you.

I split lanes when I ride and I never go ~10mph faster than the traffic around me. Two bikes sharing a lane is certainly better than one car coming on over because they don't see you. Always ride defensively and keep as much space as you can between yourself and the cars out there.
Forgive me, but it's lane SHARING, not splitting. There is a legal difference, and sharing is mentioned in CVC. I agree with your post, but wanted to mention that because people have gotten in trouble for saying "splitting" when they meant "sharing" as silly as it sounds (it's only silly if you have never spoken to a "peace officer."). My general rule is to NOT, unless cars are stopped or I must, but then it's like you say - no more than 10 over and once traffic hits 30mph or so, I am back in line. I ride a '92 CB750, air cooled, and it has had me concerned a couple times in the summer. What gets me is when I am cruising along in the HOV lane at say 60mph and some douche passes me like I am sitting still - seen people nearly hit cars, and one guy at least 2-3 times a week in the AM between Marsh Rd. and Embarcadero, on a 954, with a teeny little kid on the back whipping past me going at least 75 or so... So sad...

By the way - your comment: "Always ride defensively and keep as much space as you can between yourself and the cars out there." is really key. Ride like everyone is trying to kill you. They are - they just don't know it.

Every single bike crash I have seen along my commute route has been entirely the fault of bike rider.

Not saying all riders are stupid.
Yep there's a lot of idiots on bikes. I have made mistakes myself to be sure. The odd thing is though, out of all the people who have nearly killed me on the road, it's usually either a woman on the phone in a German car, a random who seems intently interested in causing me problems, or a dude in a big pickup truck. Weird, but this is why I have a 140dB air horn right below my headlight. My goal is always to safely put the danger behind me, and do my best to be seen.

The only bike crash I have watched happen was 100% the fault of the driver of the Honda Accord that slowly drove over my Pop's hand built Harley. He was able to hop off his bike to stand there while she destroyed it as he was only going about 15mph as she pulled slowly into the intersection. That was the only moto incident I have watched happen. All others, I was not able to deduce fault as I only saw the aftermath.

Just sayin' - different people have different experiences. Being a regular on HWY 49, you probably see a lot of douchery in cars too....

Hmm... My findings, especially after being a car driver and a motorcyclist for the last 17 years (well 17 for bikes, 15 for cars) is that there are plenty of car drivers that are morons as well. I find your comments to be stereotypical, unhelpful and knowledge-free.

Weird, mine say size 45. Are 12's the one you see hanging from rear view mirrors?

I would have rated it lower... I saw a woman EATING A SALAD WITH A FORK whilst in the driver's seat of her moving car on Hillsdale. Being as that my largest heaviest car (out of 5) is a '09 Honda Fit, I drive like I am on a moto too. In a '68 Mini Cooper for example I feel it's actually worse than being on a bike...

These threads really **** me off. The other BARF thread that got me pissed. Is where they seem to think its ok to hit or break a mirror off a car because the person didnt see them. They seem to think if you start to move over into your lane Its ok to damage your car and drive off. WTF.... So now they dont have a mirror they really will not see you in the future. Accidents are just that...... Now if someone is really trying to hit you... Thats differant.

B.T.W. My parents gave me a month or less to live after I got my 1st sport bike. Well I am still here...
Really anything hitting another object at a high rate of speed will cause problems of some sort. I have a friend who has metal in his arm after merely tripping and falling.

We feel that "we know what we know" based on what we have seen, but I cannot imagine getting to the point where I feel I have "seen it all" or that no one can show me something new. That said, I have never taken a bike on a race track though I have thousands of on-track miles in automobiles, so maybe I am just a different kind of rider. 17 years and never laid one down yet though. My friends who crash think I am a wuss. I am ok with that - it's more important to be alive/all the same colour than potentially cool. I have put my bike away though for now and given all my safety gear (cept my helmets) to a friend in need. So I won't be riding for a while now - we'll see.

Totally agree with you about the posts and the BARF threads... Some douche on an enduro took my RH mirror with him heading up Columbus in SF years ago. And my grandparents pretty nearly disowned me when I got a bike @ age 15 when I first got my permit after taking Hawaii MSF. Still here too.

Parents though - my Pops was into old Triumphs and built Harleys when I was growing up, taught me some things and my mother used to ride with him before she was killed by a drunk driver (in a car - look: thread content).

Oh man that sounds awesome... Monsters are wicked. Always wanted one, but I know nothing about them. I am very impressed with Ducatis, and I really like checking out the nice ones at Rider's Choice. Hey - you know where one could find a 40mm Dellorto for an old Motoguzzi "lemans" bike? The guy working on my Mini asked me, and I dunno. If you have any idea or suggestions - PM me and I will get more/specific details (if you don't mind). He said one of his pretty much just crumbled into dust...

Cops can pull a rider over for this if the officer feels they are doing it in a unsafe manner. I imagine they would be charged with reckless driving, but I'm not sure.
Not completely true, I have RC and if I'm BSing around town hitting lights on a warm day, the temps will get high

About an Officer pulling someone over, One time I was pulled over for lane sharing and I told him my interpretation of the law and he had to dispatch a moto officer over the radio and it went something like this :

Officer1 - I've got a motorcycle here that thinks its okay to ride between the cars which code should I cite him for?
Officer2 - was he speeding?
Officer1 - no he was at about speed limit
Officer2 - was he being reckless and cutting people off
Officer1 - that's a negative
Officer2 - did he pull over right away and have license, registration, and insurance ?
Officer1 - yea he's got everything
Officer2 - Don't worry about its just let him go

Gave him the thumbs up and rolled out haha.

Back to topic, There are douchbags everywhere and ride or driver all kinds of things. Doesn't mean we need to generalize a group because of actions of a few.

Yes, there are exceptions--horrible drivers of cars and bikes are in the majority--but the people in this thread are talking about bikers as if we're all like that, or as if people become like that because they are bikers, which is complete bull****.

Threads like this really **** me of for the reasons I stated above. Not all bikers are irresponsible.

Having said that, I would never condone attacking someone, or their car, for something that was an accident or that they did not do maliciously. Bikers that do that make us all look volatile and irrational. However, if someone does something on purpose, they will have to deal with a pissed off biker.

Every forum thinks their sh*t don't stink. On Iclub, subaru drivers are saints, on BARF riders do no wrong etc...

The fact is, you can only be responsible for your own actions, and try to be a positive spokesperson for the group you may represent. In the picture, we can only make assumptions as to the reason he was over the dbl yellow.

In reality, most people have made bonehead moves/mistakes. Whether on a bike or in a car it doesn't really matter. It's how we learn from each other, and learn from other groups.

I, like many on this forum, ride and drive. I can see both sides of the fence and as a rider, it's true, EVERYONE is out to get you. And as a driver, I see riders who don't seem to get it either.

We all notice when someone in another gourp is a tard, but how many times have you taken notice of those who aren't? What would the ratio be at that point? Think you could still say "All/most of 'insert group' are idiots and are the cause of all evil"?
