definitely "home grown" terrorist act....ball bearings and nails for schrapnel...this is way below an Al Queda or any other foreign terrorist group attack...remember, Al Queda would hit us really hard where there would be most casualties and destruction both local, national and worldwide (economic wise).

I would say almost "juvenile" so definitely just some whacked American that we WILL find and bring to justice.

 

I just read an article with some discussion on the guy who investigated the Oklahoma bombings (who is investigating this one also) and he said he says definitely home grown but probably NOT amateur. Though the devices were relatively simple, the planning seemed like someone who has some level of training.

I'm more worried about why they haven't claimed responsibility, makes me worried that they are planning something else before they give up too much info to work enforcement about themselves. Maybe I'm just being a conspiracy nut at this point. I just hope it's not true.

I think in the end you just live life the way you want to live it. If you like extreme skydiving, do it. If you like movies, go to them. If you like running or any other big sporting events, do so. In the end, you don't get to choose to make your life more safe than anyone else, that's a higher being's doing or just your time. Sure you can live your life in a foam room and never hurt yourself, but you'll sure miss out on all the great things life will have to offer.

There is no solution besides citizens being citizens, but even then that can only go so far. There is no "government do this" or "don't have government do this" as listed above. Doomed either way. So you might as well do your thing and enjoy it. We don't know if the next time we drive our car some DUI will plow into us, but we do it anywho.

In any case, I still believe some folks just don't belong on our planet. Some humans are just bent on fouling things up for one reason or another.

Life is like that. If it is your time, then it is your time. You may be able to do things that prolong it and make you more comfortable, but it doesn't last forever so enjoy it while you have it.

That right there in my eyes is the only saving grace from this day. When I saw that in the video feed I immediately remembered why I got trained and even to this day knowing if I had that happen I'd likely either be the one walking towards the smoke or tackling someone without regard. People are stronger than most think, that said it should never have to be something tested in such a fashion.

My only theory here is this, it may have been a militant faction of some Occupy Spinoff because from my background and experience this to me spells an attack on a specific social class. That being High End Blue Collar Slash White Collar.

The racers weren't the target, the crowd was. Think about it, if the bombs had gone off based on the normal run times it would have gone off as the first finishers crossed and the crowd base and media base would have been even more of a factor.

Shock and Awe, plain and simple. Go back to the social class bit and it becomes apparent, who goes to and who supports this type of event? Those who can find the time, freedom, and funds to attend such an event. The same people who fund the causes that people raise money while running for. People who are either sponsored, dedicated, or let's be honest here, affluent.

I saw stuff from the outside while in Alameda and Oakland when protesters were in town and there was some very dangerous thinking going on there. Direct aggressiveness. Say someone felt they didn't cause enough of a stir with that stuff, the riots, etc, what in their twisted minds, using psychology and criminal analysis becomes their next step?

Not that I am any sort of expert, it's just a thought to play with.


Watch your back as we watch each others. Go home and every night hug your loved one's and friends and be thankful you have what you do because it can all be taken away in a moment.


Better yet, don't just hug them, tell them you love them. Those words are powerful tools, especially in times like this.
