I thought you wanted an EVO really badly?

Revert ECU back to stock. Put stock catback on. Why deal with potentially problematic issues when you can avoid them now with a few hours of investment.

About the ONLY thing in CA I like...our consumer protection is #1, manufactures and dealers have about zip when it comes to rights here.
Speaking of which, I need to ask you some questions about some things when I get more info about this. I'll PM you once I find out exactly what's going on.

I love my STi, the only weak point I can think of is the stock motor. I don't want the car if they replace it with a stock motor... I want a built engine to my specifications and not have to worry about this kind of crap. I've been in contact with Paul @ DB for about a month now as I predicted this would happen (I always think in worst case scenarios, lol). My Euro-trip will be the perfect excuse to dump my car off at DB. It wont be cheap but at least I'll have a reliable and fast STi now (What I've always wanted, lol).

Forged internals FTW!

I do, and I have wanted an EVO since like 1997... The reason I have a Subie instead is because we couldn't get the EVO back then so I got my Subie in 99 and well, I got into Subies and I love the community. The reason for me wanting the EVO is because it doesn't suffer from the same crap that our cars do... With a built engine I don't need an EVO because I'll have something better.

Stock VS Stock, I'd go for the EVO

Built Engine VS stock EVO = STi all the way. I love the 6speed and the way it handles... Just wish the motor came from the factory with a forged internal motor like the old STi's from the 90's. (Forged pistons and such)

When your AP was stolen, you already had a tune loaded on the ECU which stayed on your ECU. It doesn't magically disappear because the AP is missing from the glove compartment. Considering how many times you mentioned your tune and how much you liked it, I think it's very silly for you to be trying to hide the fact that you had it.

FYI, I'm in no way saying your tune caused the engine damage directly, but trying to cover it up like this makes you seem very dishonest.

Good luck with whichever route you choose.

Thanks

Cant think of a better time to build a block but I have a feeling your motor will magically be better next week.

Time for the Cosworth upgrade?

Access port, exhaust and tune isn't stock. Also, didn't it come with a stock wrx intercooler when you bought it? That should have been a red flag right there.

Agree. Personally, I've never met brucelee irl but I have trouble believing anything he posts - whether its rants, STi vs EVO, crazy personal life stories... he exaggerates and embellishes so much it's hard to figure out exactly whats going on

and tho i could see where your coming from... i can tell you

“When you assume, you make an *** out of u and me.”
~ Oscar Wilde

and you could very well say

“But when assumptions are sometimes true. Then you're the ***, not me. ”
~ Bryan Yeo on Assumption

so until you meet him... reserve your assumption because he is a really swell guy

Dude, you change your mind alot lol.

Just have the engine replaced under warranty. Why spend extra money? My buddy's '07 STi is going through 1 quart of oil in 1,000 miles and number 2 plug is very black with oil. Stock car, 78K. Stupid Subaru with their weak pistons.

Our internals are already forged. Get the new engine, have Paul swap the pistons, done. You really don't need anything else, you don't even take it to the track.
