What about the black sti with the fp red that blew to ****? I have personally seen a few of "your" cars that you have worked on come into a shop with horrible compression numbers due to running to lean... I know there are people here who can elaborate on other fun filled stories
and are you still tuning out of a smog shop?

Which motors have I blown up? In the 10 years I've been doing this, I can remember 2 customer motors that failed during the tuning process. One was a 500hp EVO that punched a rod out of the block. The other was a methanol injected WRX that lost compression in one cylinder for yet-to-be-determined reasons. The failures were nearly 1 year a part so I'm not sure what dark month you are referring to? As for not-on-the-dyno failures I can think of one car, running a intentionally *****-out map that spun a bearing on the track. But that was a few years ago. I don't think anything else has been brought to my attention. Perhaps you could refresh my memory?
As for not tuning Subies anymore, I don't know where that rumor started. Well I think I do but that's another story. Sure, my tuning schedule has gotten pretty in the last year with all the new jobs we're working on, but we do our best to schedule everyone in. Not to mention train another tuner to help lighten our load. FWIWl, we still tune more Subarus than anything else we do so it's neither fair or accurate to say that we've abandoned them. Unfortunately, many people equate internet forum presence with market involvement. I really wish we could spend more time on the forum but there is only so many hours in the day.

PS. As for the best tuner in the bay area, I'm going to have to vote for Ken Davis.

I don't know the specifics of any car but the fp red car, so i'm not going to throw claims around that might be considered as fact when on my end all I saw/heard was "Ya this car is another one of Tuner's X creations that needs a new motor", and as we know there are two sides to every story... but...
The FP Red car blew up almost instantly after he got it back from you, I have seen 400+ awhp cars last for well over the month or so Car-X lasted(8+ months on low compression motor to begin with) and was fine.... The reason the motor blew wasn't from the power, it was from the lean as hell tune, which if the costumer told you to make it lean as hell then that's his bad, but from what i have heard he said he wanted it quick but conservative. I'm not throwing names out because I honestly don't care, I have my tuner. All I have heard is stories(which i tend not to believe) but it's hard not to believe the few things I have seen in person that just sorta makes you go hmmmm when a car is pulling gobs of timing from being run to lean....

Yes I have talked to the owner several times, one of the reason he got the fp red was because we where did even my GT35R on my pump gas map, and his 100 octane when he had an FP Green... His name also is not Emmanuel, so that makes two FP Reds that have gone, the one you are thinking of and the one I am

he never told me how much power he made on the red before it popped. We only raced once when I was on my stock motor, I quit that street racing stuff over a year ago. I know his name, I just don't know if I should bring him directly into it since when I was talking to him in person when I asked "Are you gunna have shiv pay for any of it since you say he blew your motor" he said "Nah i'll just have ShopX fix it and go from there, I don't wanna make a big deal out of it". I know there is a few people on this board that can bring up some other cars but since I don't know the details on those cars I'm keeping my mouth shut on them, this is the only car i talked to the person directly on a regular basis
