It wasn't local PD though. It was regional parks PD. Funny thing is, coming back from the Safeway, we asked if everything was ok cause we saw him with the Rangers and they told us he just dropped by for a visit and everything is fine. We had other ideas and had a feeling it was something to do about alcohol.
For the most part, if the bottles stay hidden and people use like solo cups or something, then it would not be noticed. I was pretty annoyed when the officer said that they were warned several times when I knew it not to be fact. I was happy that he wasn't a complete dick and accepted my explanation of the situation to avoid any tickets being issued over the miscommunication. I believe the closer to the pavilions that the tents are, the less likely to get in trouble for drinking. But being close to the parking lot, near the sidewalk is asking for trouble.
However it's our mistake. Or mine really. They told me picnic area and I thought the grass area counted. It doesn't, its the pavilions only.
The feedback we for from the park was perfect expect for drinking outside the pavilions.
Next year I will try to see if drinking can be extended to the grass area between the pavilions. My guess is no since its public, none rentable space. But I can ask.
One thing I don't like are tents down on the dirt. I really think if you bring a canopy, it should be set up on the grass. Helps organize the areas, and makes it easier to patrol.

agreed. there's plenty of grass. I don't see why we can't just make that policy for the future. Bring a canopy... set up around the pavilions. LOL!

We can always pick up a couple sleeves of solo cups. Leave em by the soda. Tell people that if they're gonna drink to dump it in one of the cups.
Be easy for us to know who's drinking. LOL!
All in all I think it got settled really easily. We did cover their signs with our signs. LOL!
Yeah it was parks PD. Not the usual guy we had last year and other events I've had there. That guy is chill.

While you are at it.....ask them about their policy on aerial photography.
If they ask for details on equipment, tell them the photographer plans on using a remote-control Quadcopter to take the pictures. Just don't mention the word drone.

There are no real beaches in the greater Silicon Valley metropolitan area. Well, maybe you'd get a couple of North Bay guys who don't mind driving.

Was this the first year that the team leads had walkie talkies? I don't recall seeing them before. But they were brilliant. The instant communication helped a lot.
I have no complaints though. I think I actually got away with more than I should have.
Although, apparently, there wasn't a publicized vendor roll-in time. I was first on site and I was met with a confused Heedz and a, "WTF are you doing here this early?"
But things got going pretty quick and my stuff was set up super early.

I have tried to think of something constructive to say about the event, but all I have is THANK YOU TO EVERYONE, from volunteers to participants, it took everyone to make it what it was and it was very impressive to say the least.
