I would concur with this. I've all ways waxed and fixed my own base. But if it was major edge damage or some deep core shots in the base then I would take it to the pro, guy named Jammie, who was the best at what he did. Now the sharpening edges are another issue...I just started doing that only about 2 years ago. It's not hard but just gotta make sure you do it right and you have to de-tune the tips and tails a bit otherwise you can't turn!

As far as wax...you should wax everytime you go for the best performance. But you can get away with everyother time or every third or fourth time (depending on what type of snow you are ridding on) (i.e. hard groomed runs, powder, spring slush). It's like putting lotion on your skin ("it puts the lotion on its skin") It conditions you base like it does your skin. Makes your skin feel soft and nice Your board will love you and make you a better ridder if you put on the wax!
