So dropped it off yesterday...they wanted to fix it. I told them that they said they would just give me a new ride since this car has 600 miles and already has a broken axle.. they werent so happy but did understand where i was coming from since my 04 Sti had the same problem, the tech actualy told me that he has already fixed over a dozen of broken axles in 08's STi's, So i told the General Manager. I took me over an hour to convince them but they did offer me another 08 STi but ....they dont have anymore STi's...only 09 STi's....looked more like 09's...but also i can return it and take over a 09 WRX...and those were my only choices including just fixing my 08..I might just take the 08 back...what do you guys think....?????

If they say its due to abuse then its not covered under warranty. The technically wouldn't have to pay for the part either.

as for what to do. I'd either get an 09wrx or keep YOUR 08sti. At least you know it's history. And you already have one major repair on its record. 2 more and you're up for lemon. Lemon I believe can be up to 4 times the value of the car if it goes to court.

they tried to pull the abuse card with my buddy, he told them they need to either prove there was abuse (the car had 800 miles on it) or fix the issue.

if they give you flack, you can always escalate to the regional management.

there are so many 08s with the issue, its not an abuse problem.

i love this stuff. i here it all the time. im not sayin that anyone is at fault here but, do you guys really think that axle just popped apart because it was driven nicely. at some point in its life it got hammered on. maybe it was when it got unloaded at the dealer. maybe on a test drive. i get sick of hearing people ***** about subaru not wanting to warranty there car for stuff like this. you know they think it is abuse because at some point it was abused. and about 75% of these people are not telling the whole truth. why does a person buy an sti------ because it hauls ***. you know you are going to drive it hard..
and yes it will break!
man up . so if you are trying to stiff subaru dont get on here and ***** that they are giving you a hard time. not pointing fingers. just saying.
for those who do lie.

I am the last person to try and cover up abuse and have it covered under warranty.

with the experience my buddy had, he had 800 miles on the car and was still breaking it in when the axle popped.

He is on vacation away from the computer right now, when he gets back he can post his observations when dealing with this.

Have you done ANY research on axle issues on 08STI's?

Just curious. Because it doesn't sound like you have.
