I've been getting sick of the same old posts by people made everyday to the point where I don't want to log on anymore. My primary use for FB is sharing news stories and photos I've taken and keeping up with events I wouldn't normally be able to track.

 

I work for a similar site and this would be a huge security risk if someone hacked your account and deleted everything.

At least Apple makes tangible products that facilitates real communication (phones), actual enjoyment (music), allows people to be productive (computers), etc.....Facebook is a website that sells.....uh.....what? produces.....uh, what exactly?


Think about it....Facebook doesn't actually DO anything. Yet 1 in 10 people IN THE ENTIRE WORLD are on it.


hell, at least a 1am info-mercial Snuggy keeps you warm and lets you read a book at the same time.



Its mind boggling.


Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go check my FB page because I posted something that I thought was kind of funny and I need to see how many 'likes' it got since the last time I checked it, which was about 35 minutes ago, because I get a strange feeling of warmth (kind of like my snuggy), when I see that little alert that says, "3 more people liked your comment".......uuuuuhhhgggghhhh......fapping...... (LOL)

 

"1 in 10 people are on it" That is what it provides you, a huge social network. Just because you don't use it as a valuable tool that doesn't mean other people don't.

So, no Facebook for me, not worth the security risk!

 

Distributed single sign-on, amongst other things... and that "thing" that apple sells costs them $20 to produce. You're not paying for the device, you're paying for their intellectual property and app/music retailers are paying for their distrobution network.

Exact same thing as facebook...

using that logic, Google doesn't "do" anything either... they just look at content that was already there and make it a little bit easier to find while showing you some ads and tracking your data.

Facebook is an entertainment company and Facebook.com is their channel. It's just like television, the only difference is that here (just like youtube) the users create the content. The ancillary revenue streams that they have outside of advertising come from allowing other companies to access their users eyeballs... cable companies work the same way. Want your channel to be carried? you have to pay the cable company for the privilege of using their coax and set-tops.

Nobody hates on youtube for putting ads on your precious cat videos and making a ****load of cash...

FB is looking to triple their staff in the next 6-9 months abc7 news just reported. They are also going to try and expand their campus to add all those jobs.
So FB wants to add FB jobs, And construction jobs.

Neighbors are going to put up a fight. WTF... They are creating jobs people....
