This is blatant misinformation, my RS is not stock, has 60mm Defis in it and a HUGE defi pod. I wasn't failed. With a perrin single tip 3inch CBE as well. Noise and smog violations....both passed. FLAWLESS....

That's weird, all the people I know that got ref'ed would not pass with their gauges and/or turbo timers. Even if the gauges are all unplugged they were still given a fail.

WTF? How on earth could someone fail with unplugged gauges? That makes NO SENSE at all.

That's like failing if you have brand new gauges that are still in the box and unopened sitting in you back seat. How could someone fail from that?

Also, how can people fail from a turbo timer when you can have a remote engine start? Same idea right? That's some lame *** shizzle.

I have a problem with believing this. Sorry but if a ref failed me for a gage, there would be lawsuits raining from the heavens like water.

hey I'm not the one doing the state ref. I'm just saying from what I heard from what others told me from their experience.

That is pretty random...and sucky. I guess all of my cars and I have been lucky to pass.

You, to them, seemed to be breaking more laws than the car that was only speeding, as you were speeding AND driving a possibly illegally modded car.
Actually No. I wasn't giving it gas so I can hear my exhaust in the tunnel that's how I normaly drive in the tunnel it wasn't my first time going thru there with my exhaust.

1. what law states that turbo timers or guages are illegal?
2. what the hell is a damn baffle?

3. Funniest read of this thread: My car is bone stock EXCEPT FOR the cat-back exhaust and turbo timer.
Would have been much easier to just say the following: NO.

sorry to hear you were pulled over, but if you were going over the speed limit and had illegal parts, if you knew or not, it was still illegal and if you have an issue, take it to court.

on a side note, it does suck to get pulled when you see others are allowed to pass you doing more wrong, but as you know, our cars draw a lot of attention. Just how it goes when you have a sports car.

To those baffled about baffles

A baffle is anything redirects or lowers the sound pressure level of your exhaust. Glasspacks use fiberglass and perforated tube. Our catbacks use a resonator and the muffler. It doesn't matter if it's straight through or re-directed, but has to stay under the 95db rule. Flowmasters have baffles that resonate loudly to make v8's sound meaner.

The silencer that comes with certain exhausts is actually not a valid fix for a loud exhaust according to the state ref.

that is an inside joke from an old thread.

the thing that always does get me is how every single harley out there is way way over the 95db rule, yet I never see the police mess with them.
