luckily he's one of the smaller Mastiff breeds... 105lbs/20mo old

but yeah, mostly put paintball stuff in the back, along with my dog, guns, bikes, snowboards, camping/backpacking ish you know... standard stuff for us.

I really just don't use my 300awhp anymore, cause my dog will go flying on launch or when boost hits and I pretty much take him everywhere I go; I drive it really easy to be honest... I've been averaging 23.5mpg on it as well. ha!

I was probably also planning on not doing many mods.

anyone looking for a sweet 07 wrx wagon ltd / 2nd owner (urban metallic grey; everything except moonroof) with 73kmi? I haven't even posted it yet... getting her smogged and doing registration tomorrow actually.

priced right that wagon will sell crazy fast. It's the one I want. LOL!

As for my experience...

New model foresters. They're underpowered but for just driving around and what not they're just fine. They're comfortable on long drives and don't handle as bad as you'd expect. Especially if you throw some swift springs and an sti rear sway bar.

As for the dog... Say you're going on a long trip with 2 adults and the dog. You're gonna need some bags. Bags will fill that back QUICK. So you need to be o.k. with the dog on the seat... or fold the seats down. A weekend trip with the dog, kid and my wife.... car is PACKED.

If your'e going snowboarding and crap... you'll need racks. It's not a super long car. I actually think my wagon has more length from back of the seat and hatch.

I'd honestly bring a snowboard with you to a dealership... take the forester and the outback for a drive and toss the board in there.

There are quite a few times where I wish we got the outback.

Outback... more length and more width. THe forester more height.

I find it's not as much more space than my wagon. The only place I notice it is in the back seat area. There's maybe 3-4 more inches there. Just enough that it REALLY helps with child seats.

If you're sole purpose of getting one is to have more space than your wagon... don't expect all that much more.

Sounds like they gave you more seat room than cargo area in the newer one, because mine is a LOT deeper in the cargo area than my WRX. The dog was sold on it the first time she jumped in. We fold the seats down and put down a big blanket. In the WRX, she has to sort of pivot to turn around. In the Foz, she can walk around. The Legacy was even larger.

There is no Outback anymore; they took the Outback styling and plastered it onto the Tribeca platform, which is why it is bigger. The Tribeca didn't sell as well. My daughter has a 2011 Outback. She loves it, but I'm not a fan.

That's not the case at all actually. The Tribeca platform was built off of the old Legacy (BL/BP) chassis. The current Outback is just the next generation of Legacy (BM/BR) and is larger because it was too close in interior size to the Impreza/Forester.

It is finally, IMO, the right size. They just don't make it in any configuration that I would consider (6mt TURBO Legacy GT wagon, please!). I would also consider a 6mt Outback if it were still turbocharged (Diesel?!?!), but it would have to look like the Euro Outback:

Thanks OneManArmy and 04GG for your advice, I appreciate your insight.

I should be posting it FS later this week if all goes according to plan... I'm thinking a fair price is around ~$17-$18k with all my goodies included.

I luckily also have some yakima racks already, so I probably won't sell them with my rex then.

I am childless at this moment, and I also lay the back seat down and put down a big blanket for my dog, he has to pivot and turn in my rex right now, and his shoulders are about 1" form the ceiling right now...if that.

I also doubt my giant glory dh bike fitting in there without taking off the front wheel, which is a pita with dh bikes.

Yeah... bike won't fit in the imprezza platform. It fits in the forester with the wheel off. It would probably fit in the outback in one piece.

I went and checked out the 2014 foresters and crosstreks on sat.

I can too with my roadbike... the problem is I also have a giant, Giant, that I can guarantee won't fit in your '10.

Giant Glory's with dual disc brakes are a pita to take the wheels off each time, if you aren't too familiar with them... royal pita everytime you want to transport it.

I usually also go with someone, so we usually have 2 (30-40lb each) bikes up top.
