advice wanted

you subie experts out there...

I wanted your opinions.

I'm looking into getting a bigger subie (from my current 07 wrx ltd wagon/70kmi) and found this...

2011 Subaru Forester for sale in Puyallup - JF2SHGHC0BH743319 - Harnish Buick GMC

Can you guys quickly take a look and give me some feedback as to what to look for or stay away from? It seems good used turbo subies w/ low mi are hard to find nowadays. I've done my initial research and all, just looking for more details from you subieheads.

tia.

They're very hard to find. My friend is looking for an OBXT or a LGT with a manual transmission and they're exceedingly difficult to find. I'm not sure what to look for on a car that only has 18K miles. It looks like a damn fine ride and one that I wouldn't shy away from at all as it's still under warranty. Good luck!

^^What he said.

I looked for an FXT manual for a year and finely settled on a WRX wagon.

thanks brothers.

I heard from a guy that they made ~150 US manual fxt's in 2011.

I doubt I'd ever find one...

my main detractor at this point is that they get poop mpg. (4spd auto crap)

My 300awhp rex gets 23mpg (prolly mostly due to my driving style), I just need something bigger cause I'm 6'2" 200lbs and have an Argentine Mastiff that's 110lbs and rolls with me everywhere.

The FXT hasn't had a manual transmission since the SG chassis ('03-'07). They dropped the manual transmission option in the FXT with the introduction of the SH chassis ('08-'13) in the U.S.

I'd have one right now if they still offered it in the XT.

I looked for a while and couldn't find a 5MT so I bought my WRX. Automatics are EASY to find everywhere IMO. 5MT is damn well near impossible, but I did manage to find mine recently.

Foresters, especially the turbos, seem to be fairly well maintained and more often than not, unmolested because they are a different market when new as compared to the WRX. But if you want a lower mileage one in the 09 and up body style, you will be getting an Automatic as mentioned.

You'll want to see this thread too: https://www.i-club.com/forums/bay-ar...rester-238274/

No, I wanted to get the XT but I couldn't convince the wife I would leave it alone. So the compromise was the 2.5x for my commuter. That and we got the one we have for dirt cheap with 0% financing.

We have a forester and a wrx wagon. What do you need the space for exactly?

Yeah, well, you already have one fast Subie (that I know of...)

He said he has a Mastiff. That typically requires quite a bit of space when they come with you My dog fit fine in the back of the WRX, but she's that much happier in the FXT.

A few people said it isn't that much bigger, but IMO it IS. No it isn't exactly twice the size, but the rear cargo area is quite a bit larger and so is the rear seating area. Those are reasons I wanted mine.

We're like twins. Wanted a XT also but Wifey said HELL NO! LoL
Got a 2013 Forester 2.5x instead. Still wanted to mod it for looks only but my
2 Husky used it as a chew toy.

We had a 96 Lego Outback. Back end is huge, but the car lacked all fun. It was hers so I couldn't mess with suspension. Had too many problems with that one so we sold it and she now has the OBS.

The new Outbacks are much bigger than the BD/BG Legacys ('95-'99). IMHO, they're finally the right size. The downside is that SOA feels that we no longer want standard (non-Outback) Legacy wagons That's another car that I would have in my driveway if they offered a Legacy GT wagon (and it was offered with a manual transmission)
