If anyone is interested, I got the STI designation removed from my insurance policy. My car is now listed correctly as a "2006 Subaru Impreza AWD Sedan 4D". My 6-month premium went down approximately $30 to $653. I didn't realize it only costs $60 more per year to insure an STI under my current coverage.

p.s. don't get caught going over 100 on the 5. My ticket was $1k for getting caught at 109, and this ticket is the reason why my premium is so high, and also the reason why it took so long for me to upgrade to an STI. But in retrospect, it all worked out, because I love my 06.

over 100 is when it switches to reckless.
On a side note, my yearly premium is now 1680 a year for full coverage on my STi and im 21.
If you have 1 point or less, wawanesa ins is the place to go if you are in california

Yea reckless driving, DUI, and excess speed are all 2 point offenses that are on your record for 7 years. I was supposed to get a 1 month suspension and it was a mandatory court appearance, but the court clerk screwed up and told me I could do a trial by declaration, so when they sent my TBD back and said I had to show up I gave them a call and the judge agreed to let me pay the bail with no 1 month suspension.
I've been having to hire a lawyer at $500 a pop for all subsequent tickets (have a court date on 12-5 for a crossing over a solid white line to change lanes ticket) to try and get them dismissed cause I can't afford getting any more points.

I initially told them I would drive it about 6000 miles/year, but now I want to change that to 8-10k, but I don't want them to figure out the VIN number thing...so I guess I'll just wait till the premium adjusts itself and then bump up the mileage.
