'06 WRX insurance mix-up
Hello, I have a new '06 WRB WRX sedan. I have auto insurance with Mercury via AIS. Once I provided the VIN number to AIS, I got the temporary evidence of CA liability insurance. However, the piece of paper indicates that I have an STI! While I would love to have an STI, I don't have one.
So I called AIS back up and told them about the mix-up. They gave my car the STI designation based on the VIN number. I then faxed them my purchase contract to show them that I indeed purchased a WRX sedan and not an STI. They said they would send the information back to Mercury for them to go over.
Has anyone else had their '06 sedan mistaken for an STI by the insurance companies? My premium was a bit higher than I thought a WRX should be. Thanks for your time.

when i called AAA asking about insuring a wagon they said they didnt have an 06 wrx wagon. So my feeling between our 2 stories is that the insurance comapnies are confused. ok backto sleep
that happens a lot I believe. When I had a Toyota Tacoma, I bought a SR5 4x4, and when I gave them the number, they thought it was a limited 4x4. They get trim levels mixed up quite often, of course a difference between a sr5 and limited tacoma is nothing like the difference between a wrx and a sti.

p.s. don't get caught going over 100 on the 5. My ticket was $1k for getting caught at 109, and this ticket is the reason why my premium is so high, and also the reason why it took so long for me to upgrade to an STI. But in retrospect, it all worked out, because I love my 06.
