02 windsheild price?
My 03 wagon cost 198 with tax installed. He told me it's a different part number.. then the 150 sedan price. I didn't argue since 198 is still cheaper then any place that uses cheaper aftermarket glass.
Not bad price overall thanks to Benny's work...
As Benny has asked, anyone who has gotten the install done can comment on the quality of the install? ... I only wish Mike has mobile service...
Oh man, forgot to ask about his warranty. Anyone knows?

Guys, so seems that Mike doesn't have his act 100% together. I just called to confirm my appt and installation and price. Turns out that he quoted me and ordered me an '01 windshield. I put no mention of '01 or whatever since the WRX started being sold in '02 and that's what I have. Anyhow, he did say that the price is $143 for the '01 Imprezas and the '02+ PPG is $198. So that explains the price difference but it isn't good business practice. He already took my deposit and I was expecting a new PPG windshield tomorrow for $150. Anyhow, I told him that I referred a lot of our members to him and I was misled so I want a discount. He obliged and admitted he made a mistake and gave a slight discount but not the $150 price. I'll report back tomorrow after the installation (he said that it would take no more than an hour). BTW, I found out that my current windshield has a leak and now I am more concerned about installation than before. When it rains, the carpet on the driver's side gets damp and b/c water leaks through from the firewall area down b/w the liner and the metal so I would never know until it drips all the way down to the floorpan and that's when it soaks through the carpet. I'm going to make sure that Mike fixes this b/c it's the source of the mold/mildew smell in my car.
Benny,
have you ever replaced the windshield, i.e. causing the leak? Or is the leak developed over time?
Oh, BTW, in regards to your comment regarding Mike not having his act together... I do agree very much. IMO, I don't think he is trying to pull a quick one, but from talking to him, it does sound like he is a relatively un-organized individual.
So to clarify Benny, he ordered you a wrong windshield (from '01) and now is going to order you the correct one ('02)? You are going to have the install done tomorrow, so is the correct glass going to be in on time?

yes, he will have it in time (or so he says). It is coming from Redwood City. He will have to take a loss on the '01 windshield if he indeed has a no return policy.
I bought the car used and the owner did mention it to me but I never thought that was the culprit. Usually once it's installed right and a leak test is performed it won't leak. I saw Safelite install a windshield in one of my other cars and they are supposed to spray foam on the side of the engine then use an air compressor and spray air near the base of the windshield. If they see the foam fly off then there is a leak and they would fix it. I hope that is what they do tomorrow too.

I already posted that the part number and price should be posted. This could have avoided the mix up. He does sound like s schmuck on the phone. It is very important that everyone post up thier experience with the install/installer. Make sure that you don't pay for anything more then you have too. It was his mistake that he ordered the wrong glass. not yours. It could have been a freakin wind screen for a Buick for crying out loud. Whip this guy into shape, quick. He's taknig deposits and F'n up orders. There seems to be no consistant price. I think I have paid more than anyone thus far.

I'm going to get mine done next week if you guys come back with good feedback. The quoted prices for my 02 Sedan were ~$190-200 installed for PPG glass, or $145-155 installed for aftermarket glass.

I was just looking at the DISCOUNTED spare parts price for Ferrari 420 "challenge" participants;
http://www.ferrarichallenge.com/asse...cedocument.pdf
A friggin' windshield, even with 15% off is $3400!
Their "discount" -just the amount "saved" for a front rim would buy a pair of nice 17's for my suby, I could buy another WRX for the price of a brake rotor.
A Ferrari might be nice to drive, but it sure will be expensive to keep driving.

Ok here's my experience from the windshield install:
Had two guys working on the car, they finished in no more than 30-35 minutes (seemed a little rushed to me). Did get the PPG glass I wanted, when it came time to pay he told me $198 total (was quoted $190 over phone) Paid it anyways. When I got home i notice the plastic lining/cover at the bottom of the windshield wasn't flush with the windshield had gaps along the corner . Like they didn't use enough silicone or whatever to seal it. When I took the blue masking tape off yesterday I noticed the rubber gasket (the rubber that goes around the windshield) wasn't flush either, one side had a gap. Gonna test it to see if it leaks, If it does I'll let you guys know.
