I enjoyed the music - except for the volume.

I instructed the DJ to play "family friendly" music - i.e. no rap songs talking about what rap songs typically talk about. He was free to mix up whatever style and genre he felt would fit that definition...

...next time perhaps we'll take some requests.

We thought about that, but the area in front of the wine tasting room (the other building and dome) was off limits for parking. They were open for business over there, and the view from the tasting room needs to be clear.

For example, I am sure Roo would have appreciated not being yanked 1,000,000 times from the grill to answer when food will be served or where are the t-shirts.

Plus, I really did not enjoy hearing "I don't know because it is not my job/responsibility"..."hey, I am only a volunteer, I have no clue"..."try to find [name] and may be ask them" (last one especially helpful as I don't know that many people in the community).

I manage/restructure companies for a living, so I can't help such mentality applying in social life as well
This is an excellent suggestion. I'm going to be organizing things differently next year, learning a LOT of things from this year. The primary thing is that I'll have hired cooks running the BBQ station - no two ways about that. That will free me up to move around and have time to answer questions and concerns.

I'm learning a lot from reading the posts here - everything that will be taken into consideration when planning and coordinating the event next year.

I thought DJ played a good mix of music as well.

I had no complaint really. This even was set up really well and food was pretty good. My meat was a little over cooked (225) but it didn't taste bad. A bit charred but I'd much rather be eating a little bit hard ribs and tri-tip than some burgers and dogs hahahaha.

I do wish there was a little bit more seating elsewhere than just in front of the DJ booth, The Music was really loud when we were sitting right next to it, but the music was also not very loud once you got outside to the cars, so this is completely understandable.

All in all, I think I'm just picking out little things from a very well set up event. Good people and good times. People who are complaining about "not getting their monies worth or spending money on the raffle and not winning anything" have to realize that all the money we spend goes to helping pay for everything that went on that day.

I'll definitely be going to the next one and hopefully I'll have a little bit more money. haha

I was the guy who got the DJ. I am not going to respond to everyone on here. If anyone had any issues, it would have been as simple as walking up and saying so. As far as the selections that were played, we kept it family friendly, not everyone wants to hear Disturbed or Oontz Oontz as someone put it. I am sorry it didn't fulfill your expectations of what was to be played. Once again, Mauricio (DJ 2Fresh) is a REALLY FRIENDLY fellow, just ask. Without some elaborate ceiling rigs, speaker stands don't allow for aiming to the ceiling. We kept it family friendly, not club bangers to get YO DRINK ON. I think everyone involved did an incredible job. I am not going to comment on the complaints for food and such. I would love to see any one who complained handle the situation as it was. My hats go of to all the people involved I think MOST everyone had a good time. Also, I love wine and drive a Forester and no PLENTY of Subaru drivers that love wine as well. I think the setting was AMAZING and the planning done by Roo andthe folks was top notch. Things don't always happen as planned and for what it was and the things that did come up, they stepped up to the plate and hit home runs.

Just an aside - the amount raised was $2,278.00 for the charity.
We do all have to realize that all of this was for their benefit.

Alameda is a good, wide location though.

But I'd be all for a south bay local as it's closer for me.

Great America?

Thought overall it was a great meet! Thanks to everyone involved. I personally thought the music was a great mix, yes a little on the loud side, but standing outside the hanger, it wasn't too bad.
Will the aerial shot of the parking lot be posted anywhere in particular?

I'll make a thread for it and have it done by the end of the week (a lot of stuff on my plate right now).

Only if you're paying for my gas/toll to drive two hours each way for - site survey, contract signing, secondary site survey (marking out parking/vendor spaces), towing two different trailers down there - one containing chairs, one for the BBQ...

...not to mention the trip to Oakland for the Alcohol Beverage license (waste of a day).

We need it to be central - and this was about as central as I could find that could hold all of us, our cars, and still have room to move.

Treasure Island is out, by the way - we investigated it.

Site Rental: $2k
Porta-potty Rental: $1,200

That's before:
Fire Dept. permit for cooking
Health Dept. permit for cooking & serving of food
Entertainment Comm. for amplified sound
and a variety of other city departments who had their hand out for permits, fees, and whatever else they can extort.
