Tire and Wheel question

I'm going to be buying a set of wheels and tires for my '02 WRX in the Spring, but I'm a bit confused as to what will fit on the car without rubbing. I'm going to be using Eibach's Pro line springs as well, and I want to make sure that the wheels and tires will fit. Can I go with a set of 18" x 8" with 235/40? Or is this too much? I've seen this combo on some WRX's but I'm not sure if they rubbed? The smallest I'd go is 225/45 on 17" x 7.5" wheels, but ultimately I'd like to be able to go with 235's whether it be on 17" or 18" wheels. So I guess my question is, are 235's too wide or will they fit without rubbing on a slightly lowered WRX?
Thank for your replys.

It depends on the offset of the wheel, physical width of the tire and your rear camber settings. I have a 02 WRX Sedan with 225/45/17 so3's that are mounted on wheels with a +48 mm offset, SPT springs that lower the rear 1.2” and the camber in the rear is set to -1. My tires will rub the rear fenders if I have 400ish lbs in the back seat and I go over a speed bump or when I push the car very hard on a clover leaf.

1. Are you willing to roll the fenders?
2. Are you worried about under steer?

also, wagons hae less clearance than sedans

225 would be the tire width to run ....

I'll probably go with a set of nice light weight 17's with 225/45's and a slight drop. That should look good and perform well.....and it'll cost less too than going with 18's and a massive drop. There is a reason why I didn't buy a Civic ')
