Tire recommendations

I have a WRX wagon with stock tires and about 18k miles.
The tires have about half the tread life left on them.
I picked up a screw in the sidewall of the left rear tire and my mechanic says the tire is toast. The Subaru owners manual says not to replace one tire and I can't afford four tires now.
Any suggestions?

We have some RE92 OE take-offs from wheels we purchased when the WRXs were upgraded at port. They haven't been driven on but have been mounted. Four would be best, two would work fine but will make the center diff work a little harder, one would be okay but then the center and axle diff will work more.

They're currently $78 each, sorry for the omission.
