Replacement Tire Recommendations for a 94 Impreza Sedan AWD
Hi there, I have researched many different web sites, and most of them recommend I replcace my tires with the same size as before
175R70 14'". I have replaced them before with very pricey tires with the same size, and did not have half of the thrill of driving when I put on 185R7014. Just curious, on what is the handling/performance ratio with the larger size

The difference between the two sizes is minimal in terms of geometry. I'm guessing you got a better tire in the 185 size than the car came with in the 175 size. There are many more tires available in the 185 size, so it's easier to find a good one there. I'd stick with the upgraded size.

If you got the exact same tire in the two different sizes, the difference in perfornance handling would be roughly unnoticable. Theoretically, the 185:
*is wider, so better lateral traction/less resistance to hydroplaning
*is taller, so softer ride/less responsiveness
Again, these are theoretical differences. The "seat of the pants" difference between the two tires is neglegible. I recommended the 185 because your options are greater.
