Question Performance tires and odd wear.

I'm running Dunlop SP-8000's sized 225-50-16 on my stock WRX rims. Under "enthusiastic" driving, the outside edges of my front tires get pretty ragged. So far, I've got 2 ideas to correct this.

Idea 1) get front wheels re-aligned to give the car more negative camber, making the contact patch more toward the center of the tire under hard cornering. Can camber be adjusted much with the stock settings, or would I need camber plates or something? I'd only increase it by a half degree or so.

Idea 2) increase tire pressure. Right now, they're at around 26 psi. I've heard that this is rather low for a tire of that size, and thta 30 should help correct this problem.

Which is the better route? I'm thinking tire pressure first (it's FREE) and if that doesn't work, then look at the suspension.

I read on another topic on here that 38f 36r is a pretty good combo for hard driving. do those sound like reasonable pressures for hard street driving?

Before you change camber or toe in, increase the air pressure. You're working the outer shoulder far too hard - at least use what Subaru recommends, but higher is better for "spirited" driving.

Thanks guys. I filled them to 38f and 36r, and gave them a good workout this morning. handling and response is much improved, and I don't hear the tires squirming like i used to.
