My bone stock 2008 STI w/ less than 27K miles just threw a P1410 last night (CEL + traction control off lights on, [S] drive + Cruise lights blinking). I hear a strange whine/faint rattle right after I shut the engine off. Restarting the engine while still warm requires a few tries before it turns over.

I've searched online and it sounds like the secondary air-feed valve is stuck open due to rust/corrosion; replacement of the valve + labor is up to $1500+ (since my car is out of warranty).

Has anyone else experienced this issue and had it successfully fixed by a local Suby dealer under an emissions warranty or "goodwill"?

If I have to fix it on my own, does anyone have recommendations on a shop in the South Bay that has fixed this sort of issue, e.g. Garage 1 Auto, Mann Engineering? I've had good experiences with Auto HQ, but they're less convenient location wise. I'm not interested in any fancy upgrades or block off plates - just want the car fixed and back to normal.

 

i took my out, worst idea subaru ever had was to put these in.

 

Lic is the expert in that repair.
