What's important to you? Traction in snow & rain or dry traction for an all season tire?

Well, i live in San Francisco so i need traction in rain and dry pavement. But the tires do not have to have to be the "stickiest" because i do not drive aggresively. So, i was thinking about getting the sumitomo htr +.

Bridgestone Potenza RE750. It's what I've got now, Ed. Insanely good wet traction, very good dry traction. Feel free to take a spin anytime to get a feel for 'em if you want.

I got them at Costco with a $60 off coupon too

dont look into the contiextreme or pirelli p zero nero m&s then. they are all season tires. you might as well get what they recommended since itll have so much more traction. but if your looking for tread life.... im riding on the pirelli tires.... i think the tread rating on it is 400 or 420... plus they cost me 460 shipped for all 4 in 17" sizes

I thought the re750's was a summer tire. Hmmm. I think im leaning towards the sumitomo though. Its more in my budget. Thanks guys.

the Bridgestone Potenza RE 750s are summer tires; the 950s are all season (w/ a 45k wear out warr. in my size).

I can vouch for the Pirelli Zero Nero M+S. They are awesome on dry and wet, ride is excellent. Haven't driven in snow yet. I think they price is quite fair especially them being so much better than everything else in this range.

I have the Falken ZE-512's. They grip very well in the wet. However, nothing to report in terms of performance in the snow.

Generally speaking, the tire category matters more than the rating. The ratings reflect the tire's performance compared to other tires in the same class. So, an average high performance tire is going to be grippier than a good "passenger all season" tire.
