Tire wear problem on Subaru's

I was wondering what experience people have had with tire wear on Subaru's. I own a 2002 WRX, and this is my second Subaru having this problem.
I know that I am supposed to have the tires rotated about every 5000 miles, and have the car aligned twice a year, and I do both of these things. However, no matter what I do, I always seem to chew up tires. What is just as disturbing is the last time I had them rotated and aligned, the tires got extremely loud. Apparently this is due to the wear pattern that develops, and then when they get rotated, the tread is contacting the road so that more noise is produced.
Has anyone else experienced this? I am trying to determine if Subaru's AWD system is the reason, or if I am just having really bad luck.

i've had the same problem too with stock alignment spec done countless times by a local shop (auto innovations.) the stock re92's got chewed after 25k miles, the es100's got really loud (subsequently sold), my S-03's were alright (maybe b/c it was 215/45/17?), and my new T1-S (225/45) are once again sounding off.
maybe i should just go back to 215/45....

I live in upstate NY. The stock RE92's were the first to go, then I put Hercules G3000v's on, and these were VERY loud even before they got chopped. Then I put cheap winter tires on, can't even remember what they are, as I was fed up with paying a mint for new tires.
The other thing I am wondering is if the tire shop I am using (Expert tire) is aligning my car right. They seem to know what they're doing, but who knows.
As far as how long they are lasting ... well, there is still tread on the tires, but like I said after they get rotated, the road noise is so loud that I tend to ditch them. On average, I would say that this was happening after the second rotation, or about 10,000 miles.

I have es100's as well. They are very loud.
louder than they were on my civic. I just figured it's cause of the size.
For me...I just ignore it. only bugs me when I'm slowing down. I have a good stereo and I figure there's a trade off. More grip...more noise. I can deal with loud tires for more grip.
my re92's came off at around 25k as well...they probably had another 2k on them. I only rotated them a couple times. I didn't expect to get much more out of them and didnt care. The es100's I've had for about 2k tops. They seem fine. So I can't really comment on the tire issue.
I figured 25k was pretty good considering how hard I drove those tires. I mean I ripped donuts in the mud, in the snow, in water. I pounded them on dirt roads and paved roads. So much so that they were rounding off when I pulled them off. Considering it's a stock tire..and not a very good one for anything besides average grocery getting driving I thought they held up pretty well and I spent a winter in the snow and didn't die.
I'd say that if you're having so much of an issue with road noise you might want to look into getting your car sound proofed. I mean our cars have ZERO sound deadening. i mean, my honda had more. my buddies audi...you can't hear a damn thing. my car. I can hear a frog far a block away.
get your stock alignment specs. And check them against the data print out the tire shop is giving you.. Make sure it's right. Beyond that...maybe look for tires that are rated to be quieter than most.

i had es100's on my 02 SE-R for about 25k miles and they still had about 10k left in them and i drove pretty aggressive...they werent that loud and i droveon the freeway often.
but if you guys say its loud then id love to have something quieter...but for $400 i might still get es100's for my legacy GT
