Pretty cool.
I'm sure it can improve with software changes. It's algorithms apparently aren't as good as the host's driving skill. For example, the host complained of "harsh braking". So was it choosing how much to trail brake for each turn or did it just assume the same corner methodology for everything? Because that's where human experience excels. And it would require the programmer to anticipate this stuff... which means the programmer would have to be as experienced as the host.
One thing for sure though, it meets the goal of a consistent lap driver.
but I wonder how it compensates for changing environmental conditions like tire PSI changes due to run temps, course temps, gravel changes, etc.

well.. maybe its because there was 2 people when the car ran by itself. having more weight in the car. it probably would've beat his time without 2 guys in the car. and maybe the car was calculating its weight thinking theres no one in the car. just the car itselfs weight.
