I thought the sliding scale was a good idea when Bush first purposed it a few weeks ago. Still do. Although I am more conservative in regard to money issues I know that this idea is a good way to make Social Security survive the long run.

As much as I think it sucks I believe there has to be this socialized sliding scale part of social security. You have to understand that the very idea of Social Security is socialized. You can't expect it to last in a cutthroat investors game. No way.

I know it’s your money and I hate it just as much as the next guy. Being self employed I can literally see my money being taken from me as I deal with quarterly taxes among other things. But the bottom line is that if you make a decent salary you could probably wipe your *** with every SS check and still live fine. Your living is coming from a sweet retirement(s), pensions, etc.

There needs to be a socialized aspect to this system or else you’ll dread walking down a city street for the fear of being haggled by a thousand bums. You just can’t have your cake and eat it too in a system designed on socialization. Sucks.

 

And something this complex isn't even grasped by Presidents unless they were once respected economists or mathematicians. These aren't Bush's thoughts whatsoever.

These are the thoughts of respected economic advisors that tell the Presidential puppet (whomever it may be) that, "This is how it's gonna Mr. President or else you will be responsible for one of the most catastrophic increases of homelessness since the great depression. I know picking up the tab for the lazy and weak sucks but THAT'S THE SOCIETY WE LIVE IN."
