Memorial Day

Got this from one of my clients:

"The "Memorial" in Memorial Day has been ignored by too many of us who are beneficiaries of those who have given the ultimate sacrifice. Often we do not observe the day as it should be, a day where we actively remember our ancestors, our family members, our loved ones, our neighbors, and our friends who have given the ultimate sacrifice:

* by visiting cemeteries and placing flags or flowers on the graves of our fallen heroes.

* by visiting memorials.

* by flying the US Flag at half-staff until noon.

Spend time with family and friends this weekend and take a few moments to reflect in your own personal way the meaning of this holiday."

Good thoughts

I fly the flag at half staff until noon next to the POW MIA flag on memorial day. Also fly it on veterans day, 4th July etc.. If you do it with a wall mounted staff you tie 2 black ribbons to the top of the pole just above the flag. The ribbon should be no longer than the outer most edge of the flag and no wider than one stripe of the flag. Basically take the width of the flag (3' or 5' in most cases) and cut a 10.5 ft piece of ribbon. then tie it around the end of the pole so the knot eats that excess 6".

I'm a flag buff usually. Haven't mounted my flag brackets on my new house yet but will this weekend.

I feel that the best way to memorialize the fallen would be to volunteer in the military.

If anyone is interested, let me know.

Please take a moment for every fallen soldier. Maybe say a prayer for the family of my friend John Tipton.

Thanks
