That's true...but it's still a little alarming to me. The freedoms aforded to the press by a gov't have been a pretty good indicator of the freedoms allowed to the people. Sort of like a canary in a mine shaft in my opinion.

What I’m saying is that if this is such a big deal to psoper, then why doesn’t he honestly seek light elsewhere? The answer is that's it's really not as big of deal as psoper makes it out to be because he just had King Crab and beer at Outback, hoped in his car and sped back home so he could watch internet **** and old Survivor reruns.

I'll give my point of view. And I'll be as honest as I can be.
I have lived in several nations and I will state my main reasons for living in the US. First off is higher education. No other places offers what the US can offer in that area for NOW. Second is the money you make doing whatever you do. You make a lot more money here than most any other country. Third technology is usually more advanced here than any other place. And thats about it.
Why I don't wanna live here. Basically the sense of community is non-existent in the US. For a large part of my youth I grew up in a Army base and you KNOW who your neighbors are. And talk to them and look out for one another. In Spain, in my dads hometown, is the closest I can think of ever feeling like the people living in the city help raise the children. Seriously, when I was 18 spending the summer without my parents or siblings, my aunt who barely ever left the house looked after me. I would go out and come back at 5 am in the morning and by the next time I talked to her she would know who I hanged out with, where and what I did. Neighbors look out for one another there. People I never met in my life by the second week knew who I was. I have yet to experience this in the US. Also the safty afforded in other countries compared to here. When I would go out in Germany or Spain, I really didn't have to worry about things that I do here. Here things are a bit different in that aspect.
With all that in mind, if I could raise my future children in Spain but let them get a American education and job I'd proably live in Spain. But since they will never have that same education or job opportunities in Spain I'll stay in America. Just like my parents did when we left Puerto Rico.
Oh yeah one last thing, the woman in Spain are a lot hotter, 7 to 1 female to male ratio, and laid back than in the US.

U.S.: License to Abuse Would Put CIA Above the Law

(New York, October 26, 2005) – The Bush administration is now the only government in the world to claim a legal justification for mistreating prisoners during interrogations, Human Rights Watch said today.
Since we are the only country that claims a legal justification, we're number 1 in torture!
