Why is America #1?
Alright, he's your opportunity to state why America is #1. Excluding 2nd and 3rd world countries of course. It's pretty obvious why its nicer here than sierra leone.
Do we really have more freedoms than the rest of the world?
Standard of living?
Taxes?
Healthcare?
Ecology?

please, no one say freedom of religion because that is bogus.
Our currency has Christian messages, Gays cannot get married (Jesus says so), and the pledge of allegence is to God as well as our country.
We have freedom to choose which religion we affiliate with but we are constantly influenced to join one over the other.
(although, if we do choose one over the other we are not tortured and killed for it)

People take their "standard of living" for granted.
I guess i would just like to know why we think America is the best place in the world - it just seems like lots of the stuff we pride ourselves on is pretty common elsewhere too. So really, what do we have that other people don't?

Regardless of international opinion and the abundance of hate for Americans, we are the only superpower, and I feel safer than I would if I lived somewhere else. Most of us take this for granted, but I see it as a benifit of loiving here.
...and something else... (correct me if this is wrong) I believe the British public does not have the same amount of leverage to periodically remove their leader from power. I'm not very familiar with their parliamentary system, but I think it is much more bureaucratic (sp?). This came to mind because, IMO, the only way to improve our image internationally, we must remove Bush from office in the upcoming election. There is no way we can change the opinion of the entire world and reverse the animosity toward the Bush administration (and, in turn, the entire US).

Britain also has a legitimate 3 party system.
Want to know something that we have that no other country has???
The Patriot Act.
