Standard of living my ***!!!
This country is great because this country offers the OPPORTUNITY to succeed- tons and tons of government grants and loans (well, at least if you aren't a white male) for those who need a kick-start. You find more often than not that people squander these opportunities, and I don't think the lazy should be rewarded.
I love this friggen country.

Several years earlier she was on a boat in the middle of the South China Sea wondering where her next sip of fresh water would be coming from. And now she was in college! She couldn't believe that she was not just alive but currently attending school at a University.
It was her opinion that many Americans don't see the opportunity that is right in front of them. And I agree, the thing we take for granted most is the economic, educational, social, etc. opportunities we have here.
We are not considered the "Land of Milk and Honey" and "The Mountain of Gold" for nothing (the latter being the chinese namesake circa early 1900s for the USofA).
Oh yeah, and we have the wherewithall to stomp on the countries that try to mess with us. Very Machiavellian but better than being weak. Not to say we always use our might in the right way.

I often drive by a giant mosque almost adjacent to a small Christian church. I work with Christians, athiests, budhists, hindus, and muslims at work.
What planet are you from?
Try to hand out bibles around the world and tell me how it goes, that's if you don't get your hands or head chopped off. In a chaotic world, most U.S. citizens and residents don't appreciate what relative stability and opportunity we have.

And an even better question would be why aren't you looking for a one way ticket to Denmark if you feel this index is relevant? Do us all a favor, please!
Care to explain the criteria for the coveted and time tested Reporters Without Borders fourth annual World Press Freedom Index?

So stereotypical...'Well if you don't like it, GET OUT"...I really thought you had grown past that Salty. The freedom of the press is ensured by our constitution, so if the world press thinks we've droped so drastically in the past few years I would think you'd be concerned. I mean...the very thing we used to chastise the 2nd world (USSR) for was their governmental control over all media outlets. Now when there's evidence that our own country is slipping down the slope of limiting the freedoms of the press, you come back with an attack on everything BUT our government...interesting.

You're kidding, right?
