Isn't that the obvious question here? What if Tiawan is being used as a Trojan Horse, getting us to give up all our military secrets in the name of protecting Tiawan? I'd be willing to bet Tiawan insiders are working in cohort with China.

Knowing just a little bit about the history of Taiwan and China, I seriously doubt they are working together on anything. Doesn't China still contend that Taiwan is not a country...

Also knowing some of the history- (remember a lot of mainland familys have Taiwanese ties) I wouldn't rule it out.
But MV's point is good too, there is some pretty serious animosity on the political face of things between the two.
At the same time, the more pro-business aspects of modern China's direction combined with the deep familial and more recently increasing business roots tying the two together, I'd almost have to share HD's concern. (I can't believe I just typed that!)

I know a couple of Taiwanese people really well, and they don't harbor a love for mainland China or mainland Chinese at all.
