Yeah, but that doesn't mean good books are written at an easy grade level. Justifying something like that by saying 'the average is low, so low is ok' is pretty lame. Almost like how BushJr got elected because he's an 'average' guy.

Yep the samething, a book is written for its audience. So you can figure out the rest on why he wrote it at that level.

You made my point even more. Proficient doesn't mean intelligent. If 8th grade was all the English anyone needed, there'd be no English taught in HS and no English majors at colleges. Do you trust the political analysis of someone who is on a GED level (which is 'proficient' in all subjects)? I don't.
On a side note, I think it's funny that liberals are accused of being both elitist and mentally deficient. What's more elitist than saying that slightly less than half of the country has a mental disease because they don't agree with you politically?!

As I see it, the government should not endorse one religion, or hold one above another by any kind of alliance, promotion, or any disticnct and public affiliation, or ceremony. To do so would undermine, inappropriately influence, and thus infringe upon each citizen's right to practice religion as they please (which includes practicing NO specific religion, if one chooses).
Please tell me where I'm going wrong. This is something I feel quite strongly about.

This should be an amendment. Thank you for putting into appropriate words what should be the prevelant ideology in this country.

Ya know (I'm sure you do), that statement still makes sense if 'basement' was changed to 'foundation'. I like how that guy tried to pick this apart... Sure, you can't live in it- but does that matter? It's still there. Kinda the difference between those who need and those who don't need a giant, elaborate building where everone meets every week to affirm or verify their morality. Personally, I don't need a weekly reminder, nor the building.

I went to an excellent private-type middle school, and can honestly say that most of my English instruction through a public high school and two separate private colleges (BS from one, MBA from another) was redundant. It's amazing the kind of advantage a kid can get from an aggressive professor.....

Helladumb, you are a self-proclaimed HellaDumb person. Liberals on this thread dont accuse the other side of "mental dificiencies" (whatever the hell that exactly means). Instead, we agree with you that you are a dumb-a$$.
and btw, if you have a BA and MA you should ask for a refund
