So what do you all think? Are these politicians switching because they are more aligned with Democrat ideals or are they just trying to win by being anti-republican?

With politicians my guess would be just to win. With the non-politican my guess would be that they would jump ship just because of all the drama in the party. I think this is only true for the moderates. I am moderate and will glady vote for a dem if he's not too extreme and not an elitist ***, especially with the madness within the party.
