For the US, yes, but how did those gay guys in 1982 get it?!?

Women had it in the africa before then, so therefore, gay guys contracted it from someone who had sex, shared needles or had blood transfusion from a man or woman from africa or haiti...

You might say they brought it to the USA, but to blame them for it is stupid. They didn't know they had HIV. Besides, they found 5 hetero guys with it in the same year. Anyone who was in the Congo or in Haiti could have brought it over... it would've gotten here somehow anyways.

But you compared alcoholism to homosexuality. If they are alike, and homosexuals are denied rights simply because they are homosexual then cant an alcoholic be denied rights simply because he is an alcoholic?

Nowhere in my post that he was quoting did I (or he) say incest was okay. You are twisting words here.

Of course I wouldn't stop loving my child if they were gay. I wouldn't stop loving my brothers if they were gay either. Or my best friend for that matter. But I would not support their lifestyle, which is my choice and belief about what is right to do. I would support my child, but not their lifestyle. Which determines why I am not going to support their lifestyle by voting Yes on 8.

I just will not vote for marriage to mean homosexuals, polygomists, incest couples or anything besides a man and woman.

Homosexual marriage would change the perception of marriage, not the meaning of my beliefs. I'm really not worried about gay couples. They don't bother me in the slightest.
I think the confusion here is perception. You are not voting for marriage to mean homosexuals, polygomists, incest couples or anything besides a man and woman, you are voting against rights.

Just because I am not against banning marriage for homosexuals/paligamists/incest...u...al...ists doesn't mean I am FOR it. I am just not ready to deny people rights.

Was only using it to confront the "born with it claim." Don't believe they are the same. One is "love" and the other is "evil" and yes I mean that the homosexuality is the love and alcoholism is the evil.

Goodness you're a provacative joke Gagan. Grow up man. It's your freedom to harass and raise hell, and it doesn't bother me, it's just that I expected you to have more to say and debate. Not poke sticks at me.

People who are voting for 8 are going beyond "not supporting" homosexuality. They are actively trying to discriminate against it. At least, that's how I see it.

What? That is completely wrong. HIV/AIDS spreads among Heterosexual couples just as easily as it does between homosexual couples. A heterosexual can get HIV from another heterosexual.

And while the popular belief is that AIDS came from some ****ed up gay guy banging a chimp, most modern research seems to point to its orgins being in the urban markets of western Africa, where animals (including monkeys) and their blood are in close contact with humans. However, before the "sexual revolution" and the recognition of the disease the people who contracted it normally died too quickly for the disease to spread. With modern medicine, and people (first gay, but then straight) having lots of promiscuous unprotected sex it was able to spread rapidly here in the US and later abroad.

As an aside, I enjoy this debate. It really gives me insight in the other side's opinions.
