My take on this is I came here because...
My culture sucked. It sucked so bad, we had to leave where we were. We came here because we thought of a better life. Now why would we want to bring my culture here?
Makes no sense! Now back to the rallies.

If I wanted not to eat everyday, not have electricity, play boats made of old slippers in the rat infested gutters, maybe I wouldn't mind.
Not all countries have the same perks we have here is the point. If I wanted all that, why would I leave?

In this thread, there is very clearly a misunderstanding. Culture does not infer situation.
There are people who live in great 'cultures' that are unhappy; likewise there are people in great 'cultures' who are very happy. The same goes for riches. The same goes for power. They have no correlation.
One example; Romans had 'great' culture; however most Romans were poor and in virtual slavery.
The word culter in this thread is being used by everyone who's used the word to intend differnt things. And because of that, the whole thread sounds like a pile of bovine fecal matter.

My ancestors changed their environment from a rat-infested village of mud-huts into a world with skyscrapers and posh penthouses, while some cultures decided to worship rats and still live in mud-huts! You don't call those cultural characteristics? I thought you were educated?

Bad example about Rome though, slaves wern't considered citizens, therefore not part of Rome or involved in it's culture, although responsible for much of it's acheivements.
