Illegal immigration solution?
The only feasible arguement against illegal immigration is "who would we get to pick the lettuce and the grapes? " Possible answer, pay minimum security, non violent felons and state/federal prisoners in commisary, or a small taxable wage to get out into the world and do something. Thoughts please?

Even better:
Go back to the 1920s -1940 when those that now receive public assistance/welfare/my tax dollars for doing nothing were the people that picked my produce.
These tax dollars could then be re-alocated to defend the borders....properly.

When my Grandfather was a young private in the Army (14yrs - 18yrs as he ran away from home and lied about his age to enlist) he was also a short order cook at night, picked cotton and worked on various farms doing hard labor for extra pennies. When he reenlisted in the Air Corps at 18 (Air Force now for those that didn't know) he often spent seasons picking various crops for extra pay after he took off his uniform. Said his time harvesting peanuts and cotton was the hardest by far. He also held numerous petty jobs until he retired from the Air Force just to make ends. My Mother and Aunt tell me that they thought they were rich as little girls.
Times have changed and those that pop-out 4 children for that welfare check are too busy trying to get on the Jerry Springer show.

So who is going to pick it when Bush or the next president gives amnesty to the illegal aliens doing it now? Do you actually think they're going to keep working for such low wages?
This totally throws out the notion that there will be nobody left to pick lettuce. With or without illegal aliens, the cost of labor WILL go up, and thus the price in the store... which is no big deal.

if they could tap into super-cheap labor, then there is no telling how many laws would be enacted for non-violent offenses so as to incarcerate new "employees"
