The dollars in which it costs to provide information packets, materials, translators, ballots, etc would have to be a significant amount.
You might as well be shooting in the dark without a clear understanding of what you are voting on. It's hard enough to get people who are literate and speak English to understand what they are voting for.

I do concede that English should be the primary language for voting since it's the common language. However, I'm not convinced that it is in fact "constitutional" to make it it the required language for the voting process. I don't believe that assimilation to our common language should be required by everyone who chooses to participate in the voting process. If someone wants to be an American citizen without speaking the language yet would like to actively participate in the political system, I feel this should be their right.
I don't think it's cut and dry, but I think the focus should be on personal freedoms and not the state's voting expense budget.

My immigrant mother & grandparents didn't have the "luxury" of having a ballot printed in Viennese, and yet they still figured out how to correctly vote.
They learned English.

Maybe, but unless the ballot is printed in every language, then it must be printed in only English.

What's the goal, encouraging more voters, or hoping more people assimilate to our common language because it makes us more comfortable and immigrants should not be allowed any luxuries not offered 60 years ago?

don't you need to be a US citizen to vote?
when you become a US citizen, do they teach the classes in other languages? Don't you have to learn a bit of english as it is to pass the class and take the pledge?
if you are going to vote in our state, you should at least be able to speak and understand enough of the language that is official for the state?

I don't understand why this has to be an absolute. Ultimately, the multiple language ballots promote more voting. Can't get much more American than to participate in your local representative democracy.
