(let me say that my orginal quote of the "wake of the great depression" was wrong, I was typing fast, didnt copy edit my post, sorry.)

I am hostile to iLogin, becasue healthcare should be a right, in a wealthy democracy such as ours. Secondly, not to be a pity party, but my mom fought cancer for only two months, had a "Cadillac" insur. policy through blue cross, $25,000 a year for her, and my father, for 20 years. so that's at least 500,000 dollars paid in. She died last april. If she had survived another month, my family would have bankrupt, so thats why I am pissed, I have had to float my families business with $45,000 to cover her medical costs.
So good thing my mom died quick, it really helped us keep our house.

So you like statements like this, if not, I think you should look into a different way of going about this healthcare thing.
I don't have a direct link for you on my stats concerning Canadian life expectency, and they amount og GDP they pay for healthcare, but I aint no idiot, and I dont quote facts unless they are true, however, i dont bookmark every journal article and news peice I come across.

And I dont see you spouting off any facts, any links to sites/articles to support your every man for himself healthcare system that is destroying us as a nation. Didn't Jesus heal people? Should Christians want their collective nation to do the same, but its always the mega-evangelical types that are fighting universal health care, interesting. I never see Christian's protesting the military budget, interesting, $568 billion. but hey it keeps us safe right?

Oh, and if you want a link to see how Capitalist democracies go about their UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE, turn off Fox Noise, and go to PBS, ya know, one of those liberal social programs, public television, for some real news.

First and foremost, I am sorry to hear about your mom passing away. I haven't had to go through that and can't imagine what it would be like to lose a parent (even after working on a 9-1-1 ambulance for 2 years and seeing death plenty of times first hand).

So, if you're mom would have lived longer you would have lost your house because of the medical bills, right? That would have made life much harder for your family I'm assuming. I can't imagine losing a parent and then the roof over your head while risking borrowing from your business and source of income.

Now imagine dealing with your individual experience on a national scale (since there are millions of ill individuals across our nation in that same situation or worse), in a financially fragile nation buried by debt.

Just as your family almost lost your house because of just one cancer patient, imagine what millions of sick americans with outrageous health bills could do to a nation with no money for those benefits. When the nation goes bankrupt and loses the house, what's left?

The bottom line is that health care is expensive and it's unfortunate that all of us can't get the same treatment as the richest individuals on the planet without accomplishing what they have.

However, there will always be pain, death, and suffering in this world as a result of Adam's sin in the Garden of Eden against God. And unfortunately going deeper into debt will continue to make individuals and nations even more powerless. A prosperous nation without debt can afford health care, a nation buried in debt can't even afford to pay off that debt before taking on new debt. When you have a nation in debt and impoverished, you have a lot of people racking up the bills and very few paying them, which leads to collapse... not prosperity.

This life is temporary and death is certain.

Jesus and his disciples after him went into the world performing miracles (including healing the sick) to show the world that Jesus was and is the Christ, the Son of God. Those who were healed were healed by their faith in Jesus being who he said he was, the Christ.

God does commands us to love one another and care for one another throughout the Bible, but we benefit in our understanding when we remind ourselves that God is in ultimately in control. God didn't command us to do evil so that one may accomplish good and He consistently calls debt slavery and sin, which is evil.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When you say that God says "we should not read His mind," I am assuming that you are inferring that I am attempting to read God's mind, are you not? If not, I don't understand why you would write that. So, with that being said, I'll respond as if you wrote that assuming I am attempting to read God's mind.

I will also assume that when you say "reading God's mind," you mean "interpreting God's will." Let me know if I misunderstood.

The Bible is filled with versus very specifically telling us what God's will is regarding many facets of life. One need not attempt to "read God's mind," nor am I aware of any commandment in which God commands Christians to act against His will or to pray for a lack of understanding His will. Throughout the Bible, God consistently emphasizes the importance of studying His Word and having a living relationship through prayer as to better understand His will.

For Example:

Romans 12:2
Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Very specific examples of God's will:

1 Thessalonians 4:3-8
It is God's will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control his own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the heathen, who do not know God; and that in this matter no one should wrong his brother or take advantage of him. The Lord will punish men for all such sins, as we have already told you and warned you. For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life. Therefore, he who rejects this instruction does not reject man but God, who gives you his Holy Spirit.

1 Thessalonians 5:15-18
Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.

1 Peter 2:15
For it is God's will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish men.

1 Peter 3:17
It is better, if it is God's will, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.

1 Peter 4:19
So then, those who suffer according to God's will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good.
Now back to the healthcare issue...

You said
"but I aint no idiot, and I dont quote facts unless they are true...
" and I point out that that is inconsistent with what has occurred so far...

You stated a "fact" previously about the Great Depression and then apologized for its inaccuracy as well as stating another "fact" by responding
"God says alot of things, and one of them is not to try to read the mind of god. lets not go there,"
which is also not inaccurate and untrue.

So, in being logical, one would notice the inconsistency in what you say (that you only quote true facts) with what you do (having posted untrue facts at least twice now) when you have apologized for posting untrue facts, would they not?

Therefore, presenting the evidence which makes your facts in deed fact seems quintessential to your credibility, does it not?

Did I post that I support an "every man for himself healthcare system" and forget, or are you making assumptions? And what exactly is an "every man for himself healthcare system?"

I don't know that all evangelical Christians oppose universal healthcare, but I am willing to wager that most Christians oppose debt, slavery, and forced giving to the state (which may not be the most efficient way to run healthcare).

God created disease and death and gave every man and woman the "right" to it. Did He give every man and woman the "right" to avoid disease and death through universal health care? Obviously not... No one is exempt from the consequence of sin entering the world through Adam.

God also says that the diligent prosper, not the unemployed and lazy (who receive benefits without paying for them perhaps?).
Isaiah 45:7
I form the light and create darkness, I bring prosperity and create disaster; I, the LORD, do all these things.

Proverbs 10:4
Lazy hands make a man poor, but diligent hands bring wealth.

Proverbs 12:24
Diligent hands will rule, but laziness ends in slave labor.

Proverbs 22:7
The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.
The likely reason you don't see Christians supporting universal health care is because it is not biblical or Christlike. You should see Christians abundantly giving to charities and organizations, taking care of those they can and I think we do see that here in the US.

Check out their stats:
http://www.mint.com/blog/trends/charity-who-cares/

These are a few stats that I found particularly interesting…
Americans give $300 billion to charities each year.
There are 973,354 public charities in the US who collect more than $1.3 trillion dollars – more than the US government collects in taxes!
The wealthiest 10% of Americans account for 25% of all charitable giving.
When calculated as a percentage of income the poorest people become the most charitable.
Those who earn less than $20,000 become twice as charitable as those who earn $100,000 even though they donate one fourth as much.
Conservatives are more likely to give than Liberals.
Religious people give more to secular causes than secular people do.
As for the defense article you've requested reporting Christians debating the budget with regards to National Security, I can't find one.

However, I did look up information on the Fiscal Year 2010 Budget.

The President's budget for 2010 totals $3.55 trillion. Percentages in parentheses indicate percentage change compared to 2009. This budget request is broken down by the following expenditures:

Mandatory spending: $2.184 trillion (+15.6%)
$695 billion (+4.9%) – Social Security
$453 billion (+6.6%) – Medicare
$290 billion (+12.0%) – Medicaid

$0 billion (−100%) – Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP)
$0 billion (−100%) – Financial stabilization efforts
$11 billion (+275%) – Potential disaster costs
$571 billion (−15.2%) – Other mandatory programs
$164 billion (+18.0%) – Interest on National Debt

Discretionary spending: $1.368 trillion (+13.1%)
$663.7 billion (+12.7%) – Department of Defense (including Overseas Contingency Operations)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2010_Un...federal_budget

It's interesting that we spend $663.7b for DOD, but over $1.4t on SS, Medicare, and Medicaid...
Even without SS, between Medicare and Medicaid, we spend $743b on paying people's medical bills, which is more than our Department of Defense bill globally. What would that number be if we footed the bill for national universal health care?

As far as PBS goes, what does your definition of "real news" entail? For me, it means individuals and ideas are given the equal opportunity and time to ask and answer questions while presenting their case. Does FNC give the same amount of time to every idea, no. However, do they more often than not give their guests across party lines equal time to speak? I think so.

Live + Same Day Cable News Daily Ratings for February 12, 2010
P2+ Total Day
FNC – 1,342,000 viewers
CNN – 388,000 viewers
MSNBC –335,000 viewers
CNBC – 186,000 viewers
HLN –295,000 viewers

Where is PBS on there?

can you please explain to me why we, the USA pays 16% of our GDP to pay for healthcare, and still have +40 million un insured and countless others, underinsured, when at the same time we have one bankrupcy from medical expenses every 30 SECONDS, when Canada has...

NONE OF THESE PROBLEMS, and they only pay 5% of gdp on their healthcare?? Oh, and they have a longer life expectancy, and a lower infant mortality rate.
http://www.google.com/hostednews/can...Yz_6_b-gsGGDxA
What they do have is their "Rich"-in this case the President coming to the US for Heart Surgery..
So Canadian medicine is so much better and yet the Rich from all over the world (yup even Canada) come to the US when it matters.

Also the US has a higher survival rate for Cancer than other "better" European countries..

http://www.firstthings.com/blogs/sec...pe-and-canada/

By the way not to kick sand at you but alot of folks in Europe Die waiting for care in Europe. (Not that I know or anything but I did spend 5 years in Germany..) You have a cold/flu, need a day off Doctors note.. No problem. Get Cancer? Hope you can afford a trip to the US..

Also folks in the US usually die sooner because we tend to work ourselves to death while eating crap food and not working out enough..
If we didn't have such awesome medicine we as a people would probably have shorter lifespans..

Additionally,
As someone that works for the Government (In the Oh so Evil Military that received 23% of tax revenue in 2009. Behind the 39% spent for Medicare/Caid and Social Security) let me tell you that the way to mess up the medicine is to put it under Government Control..
Additionally your 40million Un-insured number has already be narrowed down to 12 million (common knowledge--it was on CNN-not just Fox)

Also to Answer your question as to why so much money is spent on health care for so little return...
Lawyers,HMO's, and illegals. No one pays their doctor anymore, they pay their insurance company. The insurance companies pay the doctors, doctors are incentivised to make visits as expensive as possible, and patients pay the same regardless(incidentally if you have to pay a high premium you as a patient want to get your money out of the insurance companies..
Lawyers-Doctors pay roughly 40%(probably a low estimate in malpractice insurance) See if anyone dies under their care(even if doctor did nothing wrong) he'll probably be sued.. When wrongful death happens usually the family gets a little money but its the lawyers that make the money (usually more than 50% of the settlement). You want medical care to decrease in cost you want tort reform.

Illegals--No one likes to talk about this..(you know they do the job everyone doesn't want to do.. But they are also given free health care.. (usually by walking into the emergency room and getting seen 5X the cost of what a regular doctor visit would cost..
Ever wonder why a Tylenol costs 12$?? it's because for every pill you get 20 are given out to someone who can't pay but wont be turned away..

Also as was said before the Centralized control of the Banks was a Democrat (statist /socialist) move not a Conservative (Banker) conspiracy and the New Deal is widely believed by historians to have prolonged the depression, not fixed it.

As a side note perhaps maybe you should watch something other than PBS.. Maybe watch PBS for an hour and then change the channel to CNN or something..

Have a good one.
