Washington does not have the constitutional or moral authority to outlaw private markets in which parties voluntarily participate. It shouldn't be killing business opportunities, or limiting choices, or legislating major changes in Americans' lives.

When insurance companies will only cover 28 days of my insulin, because another vial would put them over the 31 days they will cover, leaving me 3 days with NO insulin. Something needs to be done.

I AM NOT, NOR IS MY HEALTH, A BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY

Is there any reason you can't buy your own insulin when this happens?

Step away from the argument for a moment. On either side of the coin, I'm certain all of us agree that the gov. has difficulties performing many tasks. The housing meltdown is a direct result of the gov. meddling in private markets. What's going to happen when the feds miscalculate their budgeting for health care? Go ahead use the euro example. Take into consideration the population differences. Our immigration policy alone will cripple this system. Just as social security has been bled dry, this system will too.

You think its $5 down a wal-mart or something? I like how you conveniently missed the point on that one though. I may be able to squeeze out some cash for an extra vial once a month, but then again, I'm not living in poverty. Unfortunately chronic illnesses know no socioeconomic boundaries.

No, what I'm saying is to stop saying that the health care system is fine. SOMETHING needs to be done.

That's not the right attitude either. Matt 90% of your insulin supply is covered under insurance. 90%... 10% is a freakin' co-pay!!! Quit buying so much beer and save a shot or two for a rainy day.

Sometimes, doing something is wrong, as in the case.

I loved it up there.

That would require a personal sacrifice, something Socialists are not capable of doing.

trust me im well versed in the perils of the american insurance system... the question is... how is government intervention going to improve a system that's already a bloated bureaucracy.

I had problems with my insulin pump earlier in the year. I ran to the pharmacy down the street from work and the only insulin they could sell me was around $95

Liberty Mutual (the "diabetus" guy) touting "affordable diabetes supplies" only carries two types of insulin!
