Question teins clunk clunk clunk

I read every thread here and nabisco with people complaining about the clunky noise in the rear after installing their teins.

has anybody actually been able to find the source and do anything about it? I got mine installed last week and its kind of annoying.

was it installed correctly? misalignment of the top hats will cause lots of clunk.

A lot of people are pointing at the spherical bearing as the culprit, but I disagree. I have a set of JIC FLT A2 which I swapped the rear mounts with the Tein HA's. Guess what? It's still clunking. It never clunked when the JIC's were on the car.

I've narrowed it down to the upper rear spring perches. If you look at it carefully, it has a D-shape hole, as there is a D-shape shaft on the strut. Problem is, the D-shape hole has a loose enough tolerance for the spring perch to rotate a good 5 to 10 degrees either way. If there is a way to eliminate this play, I'm quite sure the clunking will go away. Only way to do this is to get a set of perch custom machined to very close tolerance.

I got Skunk2 coilovers, mine clunk too, only in the front left side, i looked at it yesterday, i put some greese between the spring the top part under the fender that hold the spring in place which is what the spring rubs against, clunk went away, but i dont know if thats a permanent solution to it, not sure what do to yet, i was thinking about putting some rubber on top of the spring may be that will help
Does anyone have any clue what else can be done?
